1 1 This invention relates to ticket dispensing at theatres, games, contests or'any other place where jadmission by ticket is essential, and has for its object tov provide a new and highly efficient method of dispensing the tickets to the purchaser and automatically retaining a portion of each ticketjforuse of the sellerito check the number of ItiCkQtSfSOld, the type sold and the price of the tickets sold, yet retainingfrom the public,'or the public information, which might lead to their knowing the number of ticket-sales. This feature is covered by our co-pending patent application Serial Number 54,472, filed in the United States Patent Office October" 14, 1948. A further object of this invention is to provide ahattachment which'maybe used in automatic ticket dispensing machines now on the market to separate the portion of the ticket which goes to the public from that portion which is retained by the theatre, or seller, for his check on the tickets sold. e

Astill further object is to provide a new and "highly efficient method, or means, of separating one strip of perforate tickets from another at the point of distribution theonly requisite being that the tickets be perforatelongitudinally. This de vice might also be used to separate strips of cardboard of any type just so long" as they are perforate where it is desired to separate them.

These objects we accomplish with the device illustratedin the accompanying drawings, in which similar numerals and letters of reference indicate like parts throughout the several views,

In the drawings Figure 1 is a partial section longitudinally of one of the separating devices showing how the strips are separated, parts shown sectioned.

Figure 2 is a perspective view of a ticket holding can showing our distributing device separating the tickets being dispensed fromthat portion which is being retained by the seller.

Figure 3 is'a view from that end of the device which is. toward the tickets showing the separatingf'and'turning curve oi. the portion used to guide the} retained portion of the "ticket back to the seller. 1. I I

- In the drawings we have shown our device as A, consisting of a base shown as a l J-shaped channel, or support body, 5, having the sidewalls B and I perforated to receive thetwo . spacedapart shafts 8 and 9. These shafts 8' and 9 carry large severing rollers iii and H, the rollsbeing of a thickness to match that width of the ticket which is passing thereunder. Of course the entireticket does not pass under both rollers but only under that roller whichis the. approximate width as thatportion of the ticket passing thereunder. This form of device may be used to separatetickets as shown in Figure 9,,or a ,curvedrace or guide channel 15 may be attached to the base 4 by' the'bolt H with the flanges keeping the narrow ticket portion D within the guide channel. One other modification may be made which will aid in the starting of the strip of tickets into the severing device and that is the roller shown as l8 in Figure 1, however this is more of a convenience and is not an essential part of the invention but such modifications may be made in the device without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the appended claims, The curved segment l2 likewise is'a' convenience rather than an essential member as it acts as a guide to direct the major portion of the ticket for easy starting and lel shafts extending threading. The ticket is fed from left to right in Figures 1 and 5, for example, andthe major portion of the strip is pulled upwardly overthe periphery of the major roller Ill.
