To all whom it may concern Be it known that I, HERMANN BRiiNING, a subject of theEmperor of Germany, residing at St. Helena, in the county of Cedar and State of Nebraska, have invented certain new and useful Improvementsin Horseshoe-NailGlinchers; and I do hereby declare thefollowing to be afull, clear, and exact description of the in vention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it appertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which form a part ofthis specification.

My invention consists ot'a l'arriers tool for clinching horseshoe-nails, by means of which the nails can be clinched in less time than by theordinarymethodofhammeringonthehoofa process which is disagreeable to the horse and always more or less injurious to the hoof.

Referring to the drawings, Figure l is a side view of the tool opened and ready for use. Fig. 2 represents the tool in use upon the hoof.

A and B are the two levers or handles, pivoted together by the bolt or screw a, the short' end of the lever B forming the lower jaw, on which the head of the nail rests. The surface of this jaw may be roughened or provided with to prevent its slipping.

The mode of operating, as shown in Fig. 2,

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is-- 1. In a farriers tool for clinching horseshoenails, the combination of the lever A, secured to the lever B by the bolt or screw a, and the jawO, connected'at its lower end to the lever A and at its upper end to the lever B by means of the rod F and arm E, as shown and described.

2. The combination of the lever A, the jaw (J, and the rod F, hinged or pivoted atdto the jaw G, and the arm E, pivotally secured to the lever B, having thejaw D, and provided with a sleeve for the passage of the rod F, adj ustably secured therein by the pin or screw 1) for the purpose of shortening or lengthening the rod F to secure a different inclination of the jaw O, substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose specified.

The combination of the lever A, the lever B, the spring H, the lower jaw or short lever, D, the upper or curved jaw, G, with its detachable tooth-plate G secured to the lever A, and the bar F, and the arm and sleeve E, secured to lever B, all operating substantially as shown and described, and for the purpose specified.
