Claims.
This invention relates to the class of cooking utensils, and more particularly to an apparatus for dispensing butter in small pats for serving on a table, and is an improvement over Patent No. 2,553,621, issued May 22, 1951.
An object of this invention is to provide a butter cutter having a cylindrical casing into which a plurality of oblong rectangular sections of butter may be placed and by a simple manipulation of the plunger a pat of butter will be cut from each of the sticks of butter in successive order so that theymay be deposited upon, a butter tray.
A further object of this invention is to provide a device which will deliver a great number of,
butter pats in a desired shape without necessitating unsanitary handling thereof as will happen when handled in the usual manner in commercial eating establishments, hotels and restaurants.
Yet another object of this invention is to provide means for keeping the butter sticks used in;the invention chilled so that they will slice easily in order to deliver pats with sharp outlines so as to enhance their appetizing appearance.
A still further object of the invention is to provide-a device of the type disclosed which may be easily disassembled for washing and cleaning so as to preserve the device in a sanitary condition, I I I Stillfurther objects of the invention reside in the provision of a butter dispensing device that is strong, durable, convenient in operation, simple in construction and manufacture, pleasing in appearance and quite inexpensive to manufacture.
These, together with the various ancillary objects of the invention which will become apparent as the following description proceeds are attained by this sanitary butter dispenser, a
preferred embodiment of which has been illustrated in the accompanying'drawings, of example only, wherein: V
Figure 1 is an elevational view of the sanitary butter dispenser;
Figure 2 is an enlarged vertical sectional view as taken along the plane of line 2-2 in Figure 1;
by way .Figure 3 is a horizontal sectional view taken along the plane of line 3--3 in Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a horizontal sectional view as taken along the plane of line 4-4 in Figure 2;
Figure 5 is an enlarged sectional detail showing the operating mechanism forming one part of the present invention;
Figure 6" is a horizontal sectional detail as,
2 taken along the plane of line 6-6 in Figure 5;
Figure! is anenlarged sectional detail showing the manner in which thebutter-cutting wire is secured to the upper plate and c I Figure 8 is a detail view showing the manner in which the upper plate of the base is secured to the other portions thereof. c
With continuing referenceto the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference numerals designate similar parts throughout the various views, the reference numeral I0 generally designates a base which is cylindrical in shape and which has an upper plate l2 secured thereon and held by means of screws l4 which are secured in the cover 12 and which are adapted to engage within'slots I6 formed in the cylindrical base member 10 so as to form a bayonet connection between the two elements. Positioned on the upper plate l2 of the base III is a cylindrical casing l8 and an inner casing 19 for reception of ice, the casing member l8 which has a base plate 20 having a plurality of openings therethrough as indicated at 22 about which upwardly extending flanges 24 are positioned in order that retaining walls 26 may be secured thereto in order that butter chutes 28 may be removably positioned therein.
The chutes 28 are adapted to receive rectangular slabs or sticks or butter 30 and the cover members 32 of the chutes 28 have eyes 34 attached thereto from which weights 36 are suspended by means of suitable chains or strings, as indicated at 38. The casing I8 is provided with a detachably mounted upper cover 40.
Formed in the upper plate l2 of the base I0 is a suitable aperture 42 which is adapted to become aligned with the openings 22 in the bottom plate 20 of the casing I8 upon rotation of the casing I8. is an L-shaped bracket 44. The bracket 44 is provided with a slot 46 for reception of a bolt and nut member 48 which is adapted to support and adjust platform 50 at a given height so that when one of the sticks of butter comes to rest on the platform 50, a pat of butter will be cut of the height equal to the distance between the wire cutting member 52 which is supported by lugs 54 struck from the plate l2 and the platform 50.
Slidably supported in guides 56 depending from the upper plate I2 is a plunger 58 which has attached thereto a bracket member Gllhaving a supporting plate 62 for removably receiv ing a butter tray 64 on which the pat of butter cut by the wire cutter 52 can be deposited. The
of the base;
Positioned below the upper plate 12-- to be unnecessary.-
Supporting the ratchet wheel 12 is a tubular member 86 which has secured thereto cruciform braces 88 and 90 which are attached to the sides of the base l8. Downwardly extending from the braces 88 and 90 are suction cups 92 or any other suitable resilient support. 7
Since, from the foregoing, the construction and advantages of this sanitary butter dispenser are readily apparent, further description is believed However, since numerous modifications will readily occur to those skilledin the art after a consideration of the foregoing specificationand accompanying drawings, it is not intended to limitthe invention to the precise embodiment shown and described, but all suitable modifications and equivalents may be readily resorted to which fall within the scope of the appended claims. I
