many difficulties are encountered.
. --,For example, it is not feasible to increase-power at these frequencies by. adding tubes in parallel since thetubeimpedance is .too lowand-intenelectrode capacity istoo high. Itisnecessary to avoid circuits which require matching of tubes by special selection. The oscillator should also re.- spend faithfully to modulation potentials as does .a one or twoetube oscillator.- Spaceiand weight considerations sometimes are likewise of'high im-.
It is among the several objectszof .the-inven-i tion to provide a light and compact multiple tube single-phase oscillator having short leads, which will faithfully respond-to modulation potentials and the tubes of which need not be matched by special selection. A
Other objectswill become apparent from a careful considerationof" the following description, when taken together with the accompanyme drawingainwhich: a

In Figs. 1 and 3 are shown four'tubes 10, I, I2 and [3 having their grids connected to a'commonl point by means of a'four-wire convergent frame. The plates are connected to a. common point l5 through a similar convergent frame. Each side of the filaments is connected to a separate two-wire convergent frame, the two frames being inductively coupled and the filaments of each oppositely located pair of tubes being connected in parallel to correspondingly located wires of the frames. Thus,.leads l8 and 20 connect corresponding sides of the filaments of tubes l0 and I2 and tubes II and 13 respectively to the wires 22 and 23 comprising one convergent frame and leads 1!! and 2| connect the opposite sides of the filaments of the same respective tubes to the two wires 24 and 25 comprising the other frame. The wires 22 and 25 extend in mutual parallelism, as likewise do wires 23 and 24. The filament frames should be approximately a quarter-wave length long and are tuned by means of tubes are employed forthisapurpose stateside-ts a e tnl tei rj me a a M r h: a. 1 .83am .1 94, 1 :42"

The four-wire frames are all pyramidal in form and the lines composing any one frame are of equal length although they do not always appear to be in the drawings.
' By way of example, the following proportions and circuit values have been employed to produce an oscillator operating at a wave length of 84 cm. Using type 316A tubes, the grid frame was 1 /2 inches from grid to terminating point, the plate frame was 2 /2 inches from plate to terminating ring and the and. 6 inches long respectively. one frame being two inches short to allow for two inches of filaterminating at point I' l ment lead within the tube envelopes.
