Description

NITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
LOUIS F DUPARQUET AND PIERRE HUOT, OF NEW YORK, N. Y.
COFFEE-URN.
SPECIFIGATION forming part of Letters Patent No, 269,028, dated December 12, 1882,
Application filed September 9, 1882. (Modem To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that we, LOUIS F. DUPARQUET and PIERRE HUOT, of the city, county, and State of New York, havein vented certain new and useful Improvements in Coffee-Urns, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.
The object of our invention is to facilitate the removal of the receiver for the decoction from the water-tank of a coifee urn; and for this purpose we have provided the receiver with a flange adapted to reston the rim of the water-pot, and held on the same by a screwring, which surrounds the rim of the water-pot, and is provided with an inwardly-projecting flange which rests upon the flange of the decoction-receiver. v
Reference is to bewhad to the accompanying drawings, forming part of this specification, in which similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts in all the figures.
Figure 1 is a cross-sectional elevation of a coffee-urn provided with our improvements. Fig. 2 is a longitudinal elevation of the screwrim or collarofthe-water-pot. Fig. 3 isalongitndinal elevation of the screw-ring. Fig. 4 is a plan view of part of a fabric strainer, which is placed upon a'metal strainer in the drippingcup.
The water-pot A is provided with a rim or collar, B, which is provided above the top of the water'pot with one or two screw-threads, a.
The receiver 0 for thedecoction is provided at its upper end with an outwardly-projecting flange, D, which. when the receiver is placed within the water-pot, rests upon the upper edge of the rim B.
A ring, E, is provided with one or twp screwthreads, b, adapted to engage withthe screwthreads or of the rim B. The ring E is also provided with an inwardly-projecting flange, F, which overlaps the flange D of the receiver 0 when thering E is screwed on the rim or collar B. The ring E is provided with an aperture, G, for inserting an instrument to turn the ring to fasten or unfasten the same. By
turning the screw-ringE down tight the flange ceiver 0 upon the upper edge of the rim B, and thus forms a close and tightjoint, but at the same time permits the receiver 0 to be easily removed from the water-pot in case either is to be repaired orretinned, 850. Heretofore it has been customary to solder the receiverto the water-pot, but that presented difficulties in repairing or retinning the urn.
erally-projecting ring, I, which. rests upon the flange F of the ring E, and with a perforated bottom or strainer, J.
To prevent the very finely-powdered particles of coffee from becoming mixed with the decoction,1 attach an annular strainer, K, made of some suitable fabric, under the perforated bottom or strainer J, which strainer K arrests the flnelypowdered particles of coffee, which can easily be washed out of the strainer at suitable intervals.
The outer edge of the strainerK is provided with a wire ring, L, to stiffen it and facilitate handling it. 7
Having thus fully described our invention, we claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- 1. In a cofl'ee-urn, the combination, with the water-pot and the decoration-receiver, having an annular flange at the upper edge, ofa screwring for holding the receiver in the Water-pot, and forming a'close and tight joint, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purpose set forth.
2. In a coffee-urn, the combination, with the water-tank A, provided with a threaded rim or collar, B, ofthe decoction-receiverG, provided with a flange, D, and the screw-ring E, providedwith a flange, F, substantially as herein shown and described, and for the purposeset forth.
