SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 268,550, dated December 5, 1882.

To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, EDWIN P. SEARs,of the city of Buffalo, in the county of Erie and State of New York, have invented new and useful Improvements in Buckles, of which the following is a specification.

This invention relates to that class of buckles which are provided at one end with a hook or bent portion around which the strap is bent, and by which the bent portion of the strap is supported and relieved from wear.

The object of this invention is to construct the buckle in such manner that both ends of the strap can be readily and securely attached thereto and be adjusted thereon, thereby adapting the buckle especially for connecting both ends of heme-straps.

My invention consists,to thatend, ofthe particular construction of the buckle, as will be hereinafter described, and pointed out in the claims.

It is obvious from the foregoing that both ends of thestrap are securely attached to the buckle, and that either end can be readily adjusted on the buckle, as may be required.

The buckle herein described and shown forms the two ends of the strap, and does away with strap.
