This invention relates to infants sleepers. More particularly, it relates to a coverall type of garment designed for Wear by infants while sleeping.

Various garments have been devised for wear by infants while sleeping with a view toward substantially completely covering the body of the infant to reduce temperature changes to a minimum. None of these garments, however, provide a covering which will obviate the necessity of disturbing the child in order to change its diapers while it sleeps.

It is a general object of my invention to pro-' vide a novel and improved infants sleeper of cheap and simple construction.

A more specific object is to provide an improved infants sleeper which permits the infant to have its diapers changed while sleepin on its back without disturbing the infant.

Another object is to provide a coverall type of garment for infants which will completely encase the legs of the infant and will permit the mother to remove the safety pins from the diaper worn by the infant while it sleeps on its back in such a manner as to obviate the necessity of awakening the child.

These and other objects and advantages of my invention will more fully appear from the following description made in connection with the accompanying drawings, wherein like reference characters refer to the same or similar parts throughout the several views, and in which the figure is a perspective view of an infants sleeper embodying my invention with the position of the diaper while beingworn by the child shown in broken lines.

Qne embodiment of my invention may include, as shown in the figure, a coverall garment indicated generally as G and being comprised of a body encircling portion 5 and a pair of tubular leg enclosing portions 6 and l. The body encircling portion 5 is split down the front as clearly shown in the figure and is provided with a plurality of snap fasteners 8 along the length of the respective flies. The collar portion is relatively snug-fittin and a pair of arm encasing portions 9 and H are also provided. The leg enclosing portions 6 and l are each closed at the feet portions thereof and each extend entirely up to the crotch of the infant so as to completely encase the legs of the infant.

The body encircling portion 5 is cut away in the crotch area in the manner shown in the figure and to a distance between and A of the distance from the crotch to the waist of the in 2 fant. The back H and the front l2 are cut away substantially equally, the cut-away portion being generally circular in shape.

The waist of the infant can best be seen by referring to the diaper l3 which is outlined in broken lines in the figure, and the normal position of the safety pins M which secure the diaper to the infant is also shown in a similar manner. It will be noted that the safety pins it are shown at the forward portion of the diaper in the manner in which they are usually applied.

In use the infant is placed within the garment G with its legs in the leg encasing portions 6 and l and its arms in the arm encasing portions 9 and It. The snap fasteners 8 are snapped to closed position and thereafter it is impossible for the infant to free himself from the garment while sleeping. Because the leg encasing portions 5 and i completely encase the legs up to the crotch as shown, it is impossible for the infant to withdraw one or both of his legs from these portions.

The most important feature of my invention is the open crotch area in combination with the open front of the body encircling portion. An infant wearing this garment G may have its diapers changed while it is sleeping without disturbing the infant. By opening the snap fasteners 8 the mother has ready access to the safety pins M. and can remove the same without disturbing the infant. The soiled diaper can be removed and a clean diaper substituted therefor and the safety pins inserted thereinto in order to secure the same. Thereupon the flies of the front of the body encircling portion may again be closed by snapping the snap fasteners 8 and the child may continue to slee without having been disturbed in the least.

It should be noted that my coverall garment for enclosing the body and legs of an infant provides increased freedom for the infant, prevents the need for disturbing the child when changing its diaper While it is sleeping, and speeds up the entire diaper changing process.

It will, of course, be understood that various changes may be made in the form. details, arrangement and proportions of the various parts without departing from the scope of my invention.

What is claimed is:

An infants sleeping garment for enclosing the body and legsof an infant, including a body encircling portion and tubular leg enclosing portions connected thereto, said leg enclosing portions being of a length to completely encase the legs of an infant up to the crotch and providing an unbroken enclosure for the legs, said body encircling portion being at its front and back cut away and open at the crotch thereof to a distance substantially short of the waist of the garment, the front of said. body encircling portion being slit longitudinally centrally throughout its length, and closure means on the front of the body encircling portion normally holding the 0 same closed while being worn by the infant the cut away portion at the front of the garment at the crotch being of a size to provide in combination with the longitudinal slit in the front of the garment when said closure means is released, 15
