The clip I, spring 2, and brush 3 constitute the principal parts and portions of my brush attachment for phonograph pickup arms.

The clip I is provided with a li-shaped portion la, having opposed arms lb and I0, which are each provided with channel-shaped hook portions Id and le, respectively, at their lower edges, arranged to clip over the normally lower channel legs of the phonograph pickup arm A, as

posite ends thereof extending through the arms lb and la near the edges If and lg, respectively, tending to hold the arms lb and la in tight fit ted relationship with opposite sides of the phonograph pickup arm channel A. The engagement of the spring 2 with the top of the phonograph pickup arm A tightly maintains the hooks ld and l e in engagement with the lower edges B and C of the channel-shaped pickup arm A, all as shown best in Fig. 4 of the drawing. Integral with the U-shaped portion la, is a resilient flat arm portion lh, vertically resilient, on which the brush 3 is supported. This brush 3 is provided with bristles 3a embedded in a solid plastic hub 31), having a shoulder 30 abutted to the arm lh at its reverse folded portion l7 which is provided with a pair of c'ylindrically formed openings lie and Im on an acute angle relatively to each other, wherein the hub 3b of the brush 3 is frictionally engaged, all as shown best in Fig. 8 of the It will be here noted that the shoulder 3c of the brush 3 abuts the cylindrically formed opening lm, whereby positive vertical locationof the brush '3 is maintained relatively to the arm lh of the clip I.

The operation of my brush attachment for phonograph pickup arms is substantially as follows: When the record D rotates, the needle on the pickup arm A follows the path indicated by the dash lines E, the brush 3 traverses the same general path, overlapping the track of the needle, very efficiently covering the area immediately of tension on the brush 3 for positively engaging the same with the upper track surface of the record D, while the spring 2 maintains the arm portions lb and l e in firm engaged relationship with opposite sides of the channel-shaped in crossforth in the appended the pickup arm;

Though I have shown and. described a particular construction, combination and arrangement of parts and portions, 1 do not wish to be limited to this particular construction, combination and arrangement, but desire to include in the scope of my invention the construction, combination and arrangement substantially as set claims. thus described my invention, what I and desire to secure by Letters Having claim as new Patent is:

1. A brush attachment for a phonograph pick up arm having lower edges comprising a clip having spaced arms, one end of each arm being connected by a curved portion, the spaced arms engageable with opposite sides of the phonograph arm, a channel-shaped hook formed along one edge of each of said spaced arms at the free ends thereof and engageable with the lower edge of a spring connected between said spaced arms opposite the hook thereon for forcing the arms into engagement with the op posite sides of the pickup arm a brush holding arm having one end thereof secured to and extending capable of adjustment toward and away from the longitudinal axis of the phonograph pickup arm; and a record cleaning brush mounted in the outboard end of the brush holding arm, the adjustment of the brush holding arm determining the pressure applied by the brush to the record.

2. A brush attachment for a phonograph pickup arm having lower edges comprising a clip having spaced arms, one end of each arm being connected by a curved portion, the spaced arms engageable with opposite sides of the phonograph arm, a channel-shaped hook formed along one edge of each of said spaced arms at the free ends thereof lower edge of the pickup arm, a spring connected between said spaced arms opposite the into engagement with the opposite sides of the pickup arm, a resilient brush holding clip secured to and extending from the curved portion; and a brush in said clip engageable with a phonograph record from the curved portion of the clip and and engageable with the for cleaning the sound groove thereon, the brush holder adjustable for determining the pressure between the brush and record cleaned thereby.

3. A brush attachment for a phonograph pickup arm needle and having lower edges, comprising a pair of spaced arms connected by a curved member for fitting about the free end of the pickup arm, channel-shaped hook members formed along one edge of each of the spaced arms at the free ends thereof and engageable with the lower edge of the pickup arm, a spring connected between the spaced arms at the free ends thereof and opposite the hooks thereon for drawing the spaced arms into engagement with opposite sides of the pickup arm, an adjustable resilient brush holding clip having one end thereof secured to and extending from the curved portion of the attachment, said clip embodying a return bend portion at the outboard end thereof; and a brush secured in the return bend free end of said clip and disposed to engage the groove in a phonograph record in circular alignment with the phonograph needle, the degree of adjustment determining the pressure between the record and pickup arm.

4. A brush attachment for a channel-shaped phonograph pickup arm provided with lower edges and having a phonograph record groove engaging needle thereon comprising a clip having a pair of spaced arms, one end of each arm connected by a curved portion, the clip fitting about the free end of the phonograph arm, a hook formed along one edge of the free ends of each spaced arm and engageable with the lower edge of the phonograph arm, a spring connected between said spaced arms for drawing them into engagement with opposite sides of the phonograph arm when the clip is fitted over the free end thereof, a brush clip secured to and extend ing from the curved portion thereof and having an apertured return bend thereon, the free end of which engages the body of the brush clip, a brush hub held in the aperture in the return bend, the apertured return bend being so disposed that the brush hub is substantially the same distance from the center of rotation of the needle groove as is the needle; and brush bristles in said hub engageable with a phonograph record.
