the illustrated form of the invention.
In the drawings:
Figure 1 is a fragmentary elevational View of a part of a window assembly having the device attached thereto;
Figure 2 is a perspective View of the device showing it attached to a part of a Window trim board;
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on the line 3-3 of Figure 2 and in Ithe direction of the arrows;
Figure 4 is a plan view of the lower plate; and
Figure 5 is a plan view of the upper plate, Figures 4 and 5 being blanks, that is, the material from which the two plates are formed to accommodate the various conventional appurtenances.
In carrying out this invention, I have provided two assemblies, both of which are substantially identical. There is a right assembly and a left assembly, each adapted to fasten to the trim or trim board l0 of a window assembly. There is a lower plate I2 formed from the blank I4. There is a curtain rod I6 holder arm I8 cut in the blank and bent at right angles to the plane thereof. An upwardly opening notch 20 is formed in this arm I8 so as to accommodate the end of the curtain rod I6.
Along a part of one edge of the blank I4 there are slits formed to dene the tongues 22 and 24 which are adapted to penetrate the side part of the wooden trim IIJ. The material 26 between the tongues 22 and 24 is bent at right angles to the general plane of the blank I4 to engage the side of the trim board I0.
A rectangular extension 30 of the blank I4 located above the portion 2B is rolled to form a vertical cylinder 32 (Figure 2), this cylinder being adapted to accommodate the drapery rod 34 (Figure 1).
A pair of openings 36 and 38 are formed in the blank I4 and are adapted to accommodate the screws 39 and 40 which have the wing nuts 4I and 42 thereon.
The blank 4t is bont t0 term tipps! Plate 48. This blank has a pair ef parallel slots 50 and 52 therein through which the screws 39 and 40 pass. The wing nuts engage the material of the upper plate 48 on each side of each slot 5I) and 52 to .thereby adjustably connect the plates together sov that the plates may be extended or retracted to compensateV for various widths of trim boards I0.
A notch 56 is formed in the blank 46 to form -a passageway for the arm I8. This notch opens through one edge of the blank 48. An extension 58 is provided at the other edge of the blank 46 and is provided with slits 60 and 52 defining tongues adapted to penetrate the wood trim I0. These tongues 63 penetrate the side of the trim II) opposite from that side which is penetrated by the tongues 22 and 24.
As an extension of the portion 58 which is bent at right angles lto the general plane of the blank 46 to engage the said side Iof the trim Ill, there is a holder 66 with a T-slot 68 therein to accommodate the conventional end assembly of the shade rod 68. The only diilerence between the two assemblies disclosed in Figure 1 is .that the T-slot is omitted in favor 4of a hole to support the pin found at the opposite end of a conventional shade rod.
In operation, the Wing nuts are loosened and the plates slid outwardly from each other. Then, the plates are pressed together forcefully so that the tongues project in the sides of the trim board I0. Then, the wing nuts are tightened and the device is held assembled in this fashion. The device is also held on the trim board through this expediency.
The curtain rod, drapery rod, and shade roller are appropriately placed so that all of the window'iixtures are held by means of a single assembly at each side of the window.
Having described the invention, what claimed as new is:
1. A multipurpose window xture comprising a rst plate, said plate being substantially square and having a lateral frame abutting and clamping flange on one longitudinal edge and provided on the same edge, adjacent one corner of the platey with a cylindrical socket member, said socket member projecting in a direction from the plate opposite to that taken by said flange, a pair of bolts carried adjacent the opposite marginal edge of said plate, a tongue struck out from the median portion of the plate and notched to provide a bracket, a second plate slidingly and clampingly superimposed against said first plate and provided adjacent opposite marginal edges with elongated slots, said bolts extending respectively through said slots and being provided with clamping nuts, said nuts engaging the said second plate, said second plate being provided with integral flange means and said flange means being provided with integral bracket means.
2. Multipurpose Window fixture .means comprising a flat inner plate having a lateral frame abutting and clamping ange on one marginal edge, a cylindrical socket member on said one edge, pointed tacking prongs on said one edge, said prongs situated at the respective ends of said ange, having bolt holes adjacent to an opposite marginal edge and ,also having an outstanding notched lug at its median portion, and an outer 15 plate also fiat and superimposed on said inner plate, said outer plate having spaced parallel slots, bolts passing through the respective bolt holes and slots and provided with readily accessible nuts adjustably. joining said plates together, said outer plate having a notch opening through one marginal edge, said lug being situated in said notch, and an opposite marginal edge oi said outer plate having a lateral clamping ange provided with tacking prongs and also provided with apertured extension means adapted to serve as a blind supporting member.
