The nature of my invention consists in constructing the brake with two disks or heads j and uniting said disks by means of longitudinal rounds or slats armed with obliquely-set teeth, and arranged so that spaces shall exist between them, and they can be adjusted to give the teeth any desired obliquity, in themanner and for the purpose hereinafter set forth To enable others skilled in the art to make and use my invention, I will proceed to dew scribe its construction and operation;

The teeth or pins P P are situated obliquely to the axis or elements of the cylinder, as clear- 1y shown in the drawings. The bars H H, in which the oblique teeth P P are permanently fixed, can be so arranged and fastened in the circular drum or cylinder that any desirable inclination may be given the teeth. One means of attaining this end is by the employment of set-screws S S, (see Figs. land 2,) ,whichare made to pass through the peripheries of the circular heads, and, being screwed against the bars H H, any desirable obliquity may be given the bars, and consequentlyto the teeth I I.
