June 16, 1953 M. P. BOLTAUZER FOLDABLE NECKTIE RACK Filed June 1'7, 1950 INVENTOR. m T THEW new mus/ BY M Patented June 16 1953 OFFICE FOLDABLE NECKTIE RACK Matthew P. Boltauzer, Willoughby, Ohio Application June 17, 1950, Serial No. 168,725
1 Claim.
My invention relates to a new design and useful improvement in devices for holding neckties.
The primary objectand purpose of this invention is to provide a device in-the nature of a rack for holding a desired number of neckties.
Another object and purpose of the invention is the provision of a rack as described that is adapted to be extended from its folded form so as to provide means for holding a larger number of neckties, when so desired.
A further object and purpose of the invention is the provision of a necktie rack as described that embodies a base, or supporting member with an extendable member supported, on each end of the supporting member.
A still further object and purpose. of the invention is the providing of a devicefas described that is simple and inexpensive in structure. 7
The foregoing stated objects and purposes and others attainable by the use of the invention will be readily observed by a reading of the description herein, in conjunction with the accompanying drawing, in which:
The Figure is a perspective view of the invention in its fully extended form. 1
Describing the invention from the drawing:
The numeral I designates the body, or supporting base member of the device,'2 are extendable members or arms attached to I by means of U-shaped supports and pivots 5A, such members are adapted to be folded in against the member I when desired, the members I and 2 are provided with .a plurality of pins 4 fixed upright in the upper surface of the members I and 2 and at-regular or uniform intervals or 3 are supports for attaching to a wall spaces. or other supporting surface by means of screws, etc., inserted through the opening3A, the device being attached to the supports 3 by means of bolt 6. I
The'pins 4 are properly spaced to allow a necktie to be placed between any two of them without wrinkling such tie. The extendable members or arms 2 are pivotally supported within the U'-shaped support 5 or integral end portions of base member I by means of the bolt or pivot 5A and may be folded inwardly to a position in spaced relation and parallel to the base memher I, and when insuch position, the pins 4 in the members or arms 2 are in alinement with 60 the pins 4 in the base or supporting member I thus Providing double supporting spaces for neckties.
As shown and described it will be understood that the base or supporting member I is provided at each end with U-shaped means 5 for tt mg the members 2 therein and fixed therein by. 2,487, 12-
5A in such a manner that they can be swung outward into a position extending in the same direction with the base, or supporting member I, to provide rack space for a larger number of neckties than when such members are in their closed position, folded in and against the base, or supporting member I and with the pins 4 in such members 2 in alinement with the pins 4 on the member I, when in such folded position.
The device is adapted to be attached on, orto a supporting surface by means of the members, 3, such as a, door, wall, or similar surfaces.
The device may be made of any desirable and suitable material, such asplastic, wood, etc., and of such size or length as to provide space for a plurality of pins for the hanging of any number of neckties.
I have shown my device in an exemplary form and structure, however adaptations in use may require modifications or changes in design or structure, or both without departing from the basic features or the spirit of the. invention.
What I desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:
A necktie rack adapted to be horizontally angles thereto,.two straight arms each having a length equal to one-half the length of the base member and having one end pivoted to a Number pair of said end portions to position said arms in spaced relation and parallel to the base member when the arms are hingedly moved into an end to end straight line formation between the end portions, said arms and said base member having a, plurality of pins extending vertically upwardly from the top surfaces thereof wit the pins equally spaced apart.
