This invention relates to dolls and deals with a novel arrangement whereby a dol1 may be used advantageously for a utilitarian purpose as well as a toy.

The primary object of this invention is to provide a doll having a hot water bottle or the like concealed within the garments of the doll in such a manner that the hot water bottle becomes a body for the doll and the whole assembly presents a conventional doll fully dressed, having a warm flexible body. Another object is to provide a doll head having means for detachably connecting a hot water bottle to the head to form a complete doll. The means of attaching the doll head to the bottle may take a variety of forms and the garments provided to cover the body and form the doll dress may likewise be` varied. The form shown in the drawing and described herein is merely exemplary and is used for the purpose of illustration only, the object being to disclose an arrangement whereby a doll may become useful not only as a toy but as a means of increasing the usefulness of well known household equipment.

Other objects and advantages will become apparent as the description proceeds in conjunction with the drawings, in which:

Figure 1 is a iront View showing how my doll would appear with a hot water bottle concealed therein; and

Figure 2 is a side elevation of Figure l partly in section.

Briefly stated, my invention amounts to using an ordinary doll head, such as is commonly part of a conventional doll, as a Xture which may be attached to an ordinary hot water bottle, thus forming a warm, flexible body for the doll concealed within the regular garments of the doll. In practice, such an arrangement becomes useful since the garments of the doll provide a covering for the hot water bottle and the doll head makes it an attractive article, particularly for children. In the preferred form of my invention, I use the conventional doll head having the regular neck portion with the flange which is ordinarily attached to the dolls body, but I cut away the back portion of the dolls head and cover this portion with a hood or a cape, which may be a part of the dolls garment or which may be a separate part attached to the head in any suitable manner such as by sewing or gluing. The dress for the doll is also attached to the forward part of the head in any suitable manner, such as by sewing or gluing, and may be integral with the cape covering the head or may be at- I tached thereto in any suitable manner.

Under this arrangement, the neck of a hot water bottle may be inserted into the back of the dolls head and will fit within the neck portion of the doll. Elastic means are provided around the neck of the doll for holding the hot water bottle in this position.

Referring to the drawing for a more detailed description of how my invention is applied, it will be seen that my doll comprises a doll head II formed in the usual manner and provided with a neck portion I2 having a ange I3 all in the conventional order. As seen in Figure 2, the doll head I I stops on the dotted line I 4, thus leaving the back partof the doll head open. This portion is covered by a hood or cape I5, as mentioned above. A dress I6 for the doll is attached to the flange I3 in any suitable manner, such as by sewing I1, or it may be glued in place if preferable. In ordinary practice, the dress may be of any length desired, but I prefer to have the dress sufficiently long to provide a doll-like appearance and also to fall below the length of any hot water bottle that may 'be used as a body for the doll. Around the neck I2 of the doll, and preferably enclosed within the garments of the doll, I attach an elastic ring I8 which is for the purpose of stretching around the neck of a hot water bottle generally designated I9 that is tted inside the neck I2 of the doll. The elastic I8 is of sucient strength-to hold the bottle in place and when the dress I6 of the doll falls in place the bottle is fully covered as shown by the dotted lines 20 in Figures 1 and 2. Under this arrangement the bottle is easily inserted into the head of the doll, and is likewise easily detached for useful purposes.

, In the drawing I have shown one means for attaching the hot water bottle to the doll and one type of dress only. However, I am aware that other means for attaching the bottle to the head, such as metal springs or various types of clamps, may be used and also that other forms of dresses, such as dresses having zipper closures, wraparound ties, button backs, etc., may likewise be used. Since it is impossible to show all the various modications which my invention may take, I am restricting the disclosure to the simple form shown but do not wish to limit the invention to this single form in view of the other forms possible.

I claim:

1. For use with a hot water bottle, a face simulating mask having a portion of a neck formed therewith, a gownlike garment having a portion attached to said mask and forming a hood for the back portion thereof said garment encircling said neck portion, and comprising a, skirt portion extending therebelow and a circumferential elastic member in said garment adapted to encircle the neck of a hot water bottle inserted into said neck portion and hold said mask and said garment in place on said bottle.

In combination with a hot Water bottle, a face simulating mask having a portion of a neck adapted to fit around the neck of said hot Water bottle, a gownlike garment having a portion attached to said mask to form a hood for the same, said garment encircling the neck of said bottle and having a skirt portion extending below to form a suitable dress covering for said bottle, and a circumferential elastic member arranged in said garment to encircle the neck of said bottle and hold said mask and said dress in position on said bottle.
