1 Claim. 1
The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in devices for supporting draperies on a curtain or drapery rod and more particularly to a drapery ring mounted for sliding movement on the rod together with an upstanding pin or hook carried by the ring to penetrate into the drapery material and to properly support the drapery in position on the rod.
An important object of the invention is to provide a drapery ring of this character designed for supporting the upper edge of the drapery in a pleasing and attractive appearance without permitting the upper edge of the drapery to sag.
A further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is efiicient and reliable in use, relatively in expensive to manufacture and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.
Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:
Figure 1 is a side elevational view embodying one form of the invention and showing the drapery rod in section;
Figure 2 is a front elevational view;
Figure 3 is a side elevational view with the drapery removed, and
Figure 4 is a side elevational view embodying a modified construction.
Referring now to the drawings in detail and first with respect to the form of the invention illustrated in Figures 1 to 3 inclusive, the numeral 5 designates an oval-shaped drapery ring adapted for slidably mounting on a drapery rod 8 of conventional construction.
A tubular member 1 is soldered, welded or integrally formed with one side of the ring 5 for supporting the tubular member in a vertical position and adapted for receiving a downwardly extending shank 8 of a U-shaped pin 9, the shank 8 being formed in parallelism with one leg of the pin while the other leg of the pin is pointed to form a prong l 0 spaced outwardly from the tubular member I and extending upwardly for penetration in the pleat or folds ll of a window drape I2 whereby to support the upper edge of the drape in an upstanding position and against danger of drooping or sagging in a manner as shown in Figure 1 of the drawings.
The shank 8 of the pin 9 is removably positioned in the tubular member 1 of the ring whereby the pin may be inserted in the drapery material at a desired position and the shank 8 then inserted in the tubular member 1 for supporting the pin in position on the ring.
In the form of the invention illustrated in Figure 4 of the drawings the ring is shown at and is provided or formed at one side with a pair of vertically spaced apart eyes It in which the shank I5 of the in 16 is received, the pin and shank being constructed as heretofore described and the outwardly projecting eye It supporting the pin in the same manner as the tube 7.
In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.
It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is suspectible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claim.
I claim:
A drapery fixture comprising a closed substantially elliptical ring which is laterally flat in the direction of its major axis and adapted for slidable mounting on a curtain rod, a U-shaped pin including an upwardly projecting pointed prong and a parallel shank spaced therefrom, a downwardly projecting shank offset from said first mentioned shank and in spaced parallel relation therewith a vertical tube carried by the ring having said second mentioned shank seated therein to support the pin in an upstanding position on the ring, and the lower end of said downwardly projecting shank being spaced from said parallel shank so that said downwardly extending shank may be inserted downwardly in said vertical tube.
