This invention relates to tabulating and scoring devices particularly adapted for games and athletic use, and in particular the invention includes a comparatively small score board adapted to be held in the hand with a plurality of rotors having knurled discs and shafts integral there with rotatably mounted therein and positioned so that indicia on the rotors shows through windows in the board.

The purpose of this invention is to provide a scoring device particularly adapted for playing golf in which individually actuated counters are provided for the different holes and additional counters are provided for the totals.

Various scoring devices have been provided for use in games of different types and whereas these include individual tabulating elements, it has been found desirable to arrange the elements of a score card so that an individual counter is provided for each hole and a series of counters are provided for each of a plurality of players.

The object of this invention is, therefore, to provide means for mounting a plurality of counters in rows in a score card wherein the counters are adapted to be independently actuated from the face of the card.

Another object of the invention is to provide means for mounting rotors with indicia thereon in a card for use in scoring wherein the rotors are looking in indicating positions and may be turned in either direction.

Another object of the invention is to provide means for mounting rotors in a score card wherein the rotors are resiliently held longitudinally to prevent accidental turning thereof.

A further object of the invention is to provide an improved golf scoring card having a plurality of rows of individually actuated counters which is of a simple and economical construction.

With these and other objects and advantages in view the invention consists of the new and novel combination, construction, and arrangement of parts as hereinafter more fully described, set forth in the claim appended hereto, and disclosed in the accompanying drawings, forming part hereof, wherein:

It will be understood that although the device is illustrated in the drawings as adapted to be used for a golf score and/ or statistical keeper it may also be used for many other forms of entertainment, games, events and the like.

Referring now to the drawings wherein like reference characters denote corresponding parts the score and/or statistical keeper of this invention includes rotors I0 rotatably mounted in score boards having a base [I and a cover 12, spring strips I3, locking strips Id, and total indicating rotors I5.

The rotors or rollers [El are formed as illustrated in Figure 8 with knurled discs or flanges l6 having spaced indentations H in the ends thereof, and short shafts or pins :8 extending from the discs, with long shafts or pins 19 extending from the opposite ends and aligned with the shafts IS. The peripheral surfaces of cylindrical sections of the rotors are provided with numerals 20 which are positioned between the indentations, as illustrated.

The rotors l5 are similar to the rollers I0,

except that the long shafts are omitted, and when the score card is used for golf these rotors carry numerals from zero to nine, whereas the rotors I!) carry numerals from two to nine inclusive. The rotors l5 have knurled discs 2! with indentations 22 in the end thereof, and short shafts 23 extend from the ends thereof.

The base II is formed as illustrated in Figures 10 and 11; with recesses 24 for the rotors l0, larger recesses 25 for the discs '16, bearings 26 for the short shafts l8, and bearings 21, for the shafts I9. The base is also provided with an elongated slot 28 for each of the strips I 4,

and a slot 29 with pockets 30 in-one side thereof, for the spring strips l3. At the lower end of the card the recesses for the rotors l5 are formed as shown in Figure 11, with semi-circular sections 3! for the rotors, 32 and 33 for the discs, and.

34 for the shafts.

The cover [2 is provided with corresponding recesses and bearings and arcuate sections 35 with windows 36 therein are provided over the rotors as shown in Figure -5. The cover is otherwise formed to correspond with the base and may be cemented, or otherwise securedthereto.

The spring strips [3 are formed as illustrated in Figures 3 and 6, being provided with arcuate sections 37 that register with the axes of the rotors, and these strips are freely mounted in the slots '29.

The locking strips I Rare provided with-openings '38 for the short shafts at the-endsof the rotors and the surfaces thereof engaging the discs 16 are provided with projections forming detents 39 that registerwith the indentations in the ends of the discs of the rotors. -As the rotors are turned by the thumb -of theoperator the spring strip permitsthe-rotor to slide longitudinally away from the strips ll -so that the end of the disc may ride over the detent; and as soon as the next indentation arrives at the detent the rotor will snap back toone f the positions shown in Figure 3 with the :detent in the-indentation.

The rotors l for the totals are installed as illustrated in the last two positions shown in Figure 3 with the outer rotors frio'tionall-y held' by the spring strip, and. 'a'fter'nine holes have been played the total score therefor is tabulated and indicated on the first of the total indicating rotors. The lower rotors may be used to :show the total score for eighteen holes or the total score for'the day.

By this means the scores for four :playersrmay be indicated on a cardand the rotors may be set as each hole is played.

It will be understood that modifications be made in the design and arrangement of the parts Without departing from the spirit of the invention.

What is claimed is:

In a point indicating board, the combination which comprises a board having a base and a cover with cylindrical cavities therein, the axes of which are centered I in a plane extended through the meeting edges of the base and cover, said cover having windows therein in registering relation with the cavities and also having slots therein positioned at the ends of the windows, rollers having cylindrical sections with numerals on the surfaces mounted in the said cavities with the numerals positioned to show through-the windows, said cylindrical sections having; knurled flanges on the ends and said knurled flanges positioned to extend through the said slots, said rollers having. pins extended from the ends of the cylindrical sections and knurled flanges through, which the rollers are journaled in the board, a fiat spring in. the board positioned to resiliently engage the ends of the pins for frictionally retarding rotation .of the said rollers, said. knurled flanges having radially disposed indentations in the outer faces thereof, and flat springs having detents on the surfaces in the board and positioned whereby the detents snap into the indentations of the flanges for stopping the rollers with the numerals on the cylindrical sections thereof showing through the windows of the board cover.
