HUSKING GLOVE.
Patented De0.'2'7, 1881 I INVENTOR Jsep/z I, GZ/dde 72/ 5 ATTORNEYS WITNESSES N PETERS. PMo-Lilbvgnphor, Wanfington. 5. C-
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
- JOSEPH F. GLIDDEN, OF DE KALB, ILLINOIS.
HUSKlNG-GLOVE.'
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 251,571, dated December 27, 1881.
Application filed July 30, 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern Be it known that 1, JOSEPH F. GLIDDEN, a citizen of the United States, resident of De Kalb, in the county of De Kalb and State of Illinois, have invented a new and valuable Inlprovement in Hashing-Gloves; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full, clear, and exact description of the construction and operation of the same, reference being bad to the annexed drawings, making a part of this specification, and to the letters and figures of reference marked thereon.
Figure ofithe drawings is a representation of a perspective view of my device. Fig. 2 is an enlarged sectional view of one of the fingers, and Figs. 3, 4, and 5 are detail views of the same.
This invention relates to improvements in huskiug-gloves; and it consists in the devices hereinafter set forth and claimed.
In the annexed drawings, theletter a represents a. stout glove of buckskin or other analogous material. Secured to the backs of the fingers and thumb are loops 1), situated so that they project toward the tips a. Held in these loops are rings (I, through which pass the fingers and thumb, and upon the fronts of these latter the rings are provided with prongs 0. These prongs may be. formed by turning up one end of the ring metal and twisting the other about it. Over the rings at the prongs are placed patches of leather or other material, which are fastened to the glove, and have holes g, through which the prongs project. These patches prevent the rings from turning, and thus keep the prongs in proper position. The loops not only hold the rings on the glove, but when the latter is in use tend by the strain to tighten them in place firmly.
The pronged rings may be applied to any glove in the manner described, and are removable by taking off the loops and patches.
I do not propose to confine myself to the exact construction of prongs, nor to the precise means of securing them in place.
What I claim, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
1. A husking glove having the removable rings (1, provided with prougs,as set forth.
2. The rings d, having the prongs e, in combination with a glove, and means, substantially as described, for holding the rings on the glove, as set forth.
In testimony that I claim the above I have hereunto subscribed my name in the presence of two witnesses.
JOSEPH F. GLIDDEN.
