3 Claims. (01. 25-1315) This invention relates to supports for beammolds and other forms used in the construction of reinforced concrete buildings.
The object of the invention is to provide a form support equipped with an adjustable form clamping attachment which may be conveniently and quickly adjusted into proper clamping relation with forms of varying widths and heights and which, when so adjusted, will securely retain the form in its proper position on the support.
The present application is a division of my pending application Serial No. 603,775, filed July 9, 1945; which has become the Patent Number 2,446,255.
A preferred embodiment of the invention is shown in the accompanying drawings in which- Fig. 1 is an elevational view of my improved support shown in association with a beam-mold.
Fig. 2 is a plan view of the support per se.
Fig. 3 is a detail perspective view of a clamping bar supporting slide forming part of the assembly shown in Figs. 1 and 2.
Referring more particularly to the drawings, designates a vertically adjustable telescopic form support on which a beam-mold 6 is supported by my improved form clamping attachment generally indicated at I.
Support 5 is shown as comprising an upper hollow tubular member 8 slidably fitted in a lower tubular member 9 provided with a screw-threaded lower end [0 which is screwed into the threaded socket ll of a supporting base 12. The upper tubular member 8 is adapted to be raised and lowered with reference to the lower tubular member 9 to thereby increase or decrease the overall height of the telescopic support conjointly provided by said members. Upper member 8 is supported in adjusted position by a supporting pin l3 which is passed through selected openings [4 of a series of such openings provided in the lower tubular member 9.
After major adjustments of the overall height of the support 5 have been obtained by raising or lowering member 8 to a new position of adjustment it is possible to effect a finer adjustment of the overall height of the support by screwing the tubular member 9 into or out of socket II to thereby effect a slight unitary raising or lowering of the members 8 and 9.
My improved form clamping attachment 1 comprises a channel beam l6 supporting the bottom wall 6a of the beam-mold 6 and a pair of clamping bars I1 and I1 disposed in clamping engagement with the side walls 6b of the beammold 6. Beam I6 is arranged with its web portion [8 extending vertically, its lower flange I9 resting on a flanged collar 20 secured to the upper end of tubular member 8, and its upper flange 2| in supporting engagement with the bottom wall 6a of beam-mold 6. A centering post 22 extends downwardly from the central portion of beam flange l9 and is fitted in the upper end of member 8.
Each of the clamping bars I! and I1 is slidably fitted in upper and lower slots 24 and 25 provided in the top and bottom portions of a hollow rectangular slide 26 which is slidably mounted on beam l6 for movement longitudinally of said beam. The upper portion of each slide 26 is cut away as indicated at 21 to permit the inner edges of the clamping bars I1 and I1 to be butted directly against the side walls 61) of beammold 6 by inward movement of said slides toward the center of the beam.
After the slides 26 have been moved inwardly to dispose the clamping bars I! and IT in clamping engagement with the side walls 61) of beammold 6 the said bars are secured against reverse movement by means of stop pins 29, each of which is passed downwardly through one of a series of openings 30 in the beam flange 2| so that it serves as a stop in contact with the outer end of the adjacent slide. In this connection it will be noted that the beam flange 2| is provided with a series of openings 36 in which the stop pins 29 may be selectively engaged to secure the slides 26 in their adjusted position. The clamping bars I1 and I1 are also provided with a vertical series of inclined holes 32 through which nails 33 may be driven into the side walls 6b of beam-mold 6. This nailing of the clamping bars l1 and ll to the beam-mold enables them to be temporarily held in their vertically adjusted position prior to the application of the final clamping pressure applied by the slides 26.
Having thus described the nature of my invention, it will be understood that various modifications may be resorted to Within the scope and spirit of the invention as defined by the appended claims.
I claim:
1. A form support including a channel beam arranged with its web extending vertically and its channel forming flanges extending horizontally so that the upper flange serves as a supporting seat for the form, slide members slidably mounted on said beam, each slide member comprising top, side and bottom walls and being provided with aligned slots formed in the top and bottom walls, a pair of vertically disposed clamp- 3 ing bars slidably fitted in said slots and adapted for clamping engagement with the side walls of the form supported on said beam, said slide members being movable lengthwise of the beam to effect horizontal adjustment of said clamping bars and the latter being vertically movable in the slots of said slide members: to different positions of vertical adjustment, and removable stop members engageable with the beam and with the outer ends of said slide members to secure the slide The following references are of record in the DOMENICO VOCISANO.
