3 Claims.
The invention relates to refrigerator cabinets,
having more particular reference to the base section thereof in which the refrigerating mech-- anism is located. It is the object of the invention to obtain a simple structure for supporting the mechanism and the upper portion of the cabinet and to this end the invention consists in the construction as hereinafter set forth.

A is a ring preferably of angle cross-section, which is provided at a plurality of spaced points with depending supporting feet B. Extending diametrically across this ring is a platform C preferably formed of a pair of spacedinverted channel bars each having outwardly extending foot flanges (3 forming with the channels a double 2 cross-section. This platform supports the refrigerating mechanism including a compressor D, a motor E, a condenser F and a fan housing G, as well as other elements not specifically mentioned. At a number of points, preferably four, equispaced about the ring are mounted vertically extending post members H. Each of these is preferably of channel crosssection, the sides of the channel extending substantially radially of the ring and having outwardly bent foot flanges H' which are secured to the ring. At the upper end of each post the side flanges 1-1 are cutaway and the web portion H is bent to form a portion I-I extending horizontally inward. The cut flanges are so fashioned as to form a mitre joint H with the two portions welded together. Thus a substantial support is formed for the cabinet section I, the bottom of which rests upon and is bolted to the portions H of the posts.
To conceal the mechanism supported on the platform 0, while at the same time providing free access of air thereto, there is a louvered jacket J. This is formed of a series of ring segments J, each having a vertically extending portion J and an outwardly offset rounded portion J the bottom edge of the latter being substantially in the horizontal plane of the upper edge of the portion J 2 in the next lower segment. The segments J are secured in relation to each other and to the base ring a by a pliuality of vertically ill extending strips K distributed at spaced intervals around the segments, being secured thereto and to the ring A. Thus the platform and the elements mounted thereon are concealed at front and sides, but there is an opening at the rear opposite the condenser E. When the motor and fan are in operation, air can be drawn in through all of the louvers and expelled through the condenser and the opening in the segments.
What I claim as my invention is:
l. A base structure for a refrigerator cabinet comprising an endless circular ring, a platform secured to and extending diametrically across said ring forming a support for a portion of the refrigerating apparatus, channel posts located at spaced points around said ring and extending upward therefrom, the lower ends of said posts being flanged and secured to said ring, and their upper ends being bent to form arms projecting radially inward and forming supports for the cabinet.
2. A base structure for a refrigerator cabinet comprising an endless circular ring, a platform secured to and extending diametrically across said ring forming a support for a portion of the refrigerator apparatus, and posts located at spaced points around said ring secured thereto and extending therefrom, each post being of channel cross-section with the flanges thereof extending radially and with their lower ends bent outward to form flanges attached to said ring, the upper portion of the channel being bent to forma radially inwardly extending arm and the flanges being cutaway to form a mitre'joint between the vertically and radially extending portions thereof, said arms constituting a support for the cabinet.
3. A base structure for a refrigerator cabinet comprising an endless circular ring, spaced feet on said ring for raising the same above the floor level, a platform secured to andextending diametrically across said ring forming a support for a portion of the refrigerating apparatus including a compressor, a motor and a condenser, channel posts located at spaced points around said ring being attached thereto by bent flanges at their lower ends and extending upward therefrom, the upper end portions of said posts constituting a support for the cabinet, a vertical series of segmental circular strips above said ring, each strip having the opposite ends thereof spaced to leave an open segment and also having the lower edge portion thereof laterally outwardly spaced from the upper end portion of the next lower segmental strip, and a mounting for said strips on said ring forming thereof a louvered casing for concealing the apparatus on said platform and with an opening in said casing opposite said condenser, said mounting comprising vertically extending strips connecting the inner portions of said segmental strips and registering respectively with said channel posts being connected to the web portions thereof.
