The core comprises a pair of side panels 22, preferably of wood, adapted to be arranged in laterally spaced, parallel relation between the panels 2 and centered therebetween with the panels 22 spaced apart a distance corresponding to the space desired in a hollow wall. The panels 22 may be substantially of the same length as the panels 2 and are provided with a metal facing 23, respectively, on the outer sides and along the longitudinal edges thereof, corresponding to the linings 3.
A pair of spacing cross bars 24 are hinged to one panel 22, as at 25, adjacent the ends thereof,
to be swung into and from spacing positions to separate the panels 22 the desired distance apart in setting up the core.
A pair of yokes 26, similar to the yokes 4, withpairs of uprights 21, are providing for straddling: panels 22 adjacent opposite ends thereof to hold the panels 22 against spreading apart from spaced relation, said yokes 21 being removable for a purpose to be seen.
A pair of upper and lower cross bars 28, 29, in each pair connect each pair of uprights 21 above the panels 22, the lower cross bar 29, in each pair, being secured to the uprights 21 by pivot bolts 30, whereas, the upper cross bars 28 are secured to said uprights by pivot bolts 3| extending through slots 32 in said bars 21 and equipped with wing nuts 33. The pivot bolts 30, 3| and the slots 32 and the wing nuts 33 provide for swinging adjustment of th pairs of uprights 21 to clamp the same against panels 22 flush therewith in setting up the core, and by loosening the wing nuts 33, said pairs of uprights 21 may be swung on the pivot bolts away from said panels 22 for ready removal of yokes 21 so that the core 2| may be knocked down at will.
A corner form 35 is provided comprising a pair of like, substantially square panels 36 having beveled edges 31 hinged together, as at 38, for
folding of said panels into right angular, set relation, the edges of said panels 36, opposite the hinged edges 31, being provided with pairs of hinge eyes 39 for attachment to the hinge eyes 20 on panels 2 of a pair of the forms I. Pins, as at 40, provide for such attachments.
As best shown in Figure 4, in setting up the de-' scribed form I, the core is centered in between the panels 2 by inserting the upper longitudinal edges of panels 22 in the notches 19 of the blocks l8.
In using the described form I, the wall is built up in courses 4|, 42, 43, for instance, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, with cross tie rods 44 between said courses, and the form is set up with the panels 22 of the core resting upon said tie rods 44, as shown in Figures 2 and 3, and then partly filled and tamped with a wet mix of concrete, as shown in Figure 2, after which the yokes 26 are removed from form I as shown in Figures 3, 4. The form I is then filled, substantially and tamped to build up a section of a course, for instance course 43 as shown in Figure 3, and then knocked down and again set up and shoved forward on said section for building up another section of the course. The tie rods 44 are left in the wall and longitudinal tie rods 45 may be used in the courses. In building corners and asshown in Figure 1, a pair of forms I are used, in right angular relation, to build corners in the courses, and with the panels 2 of the forms I on the inside of the corners arranged in butt joint relation, and the panels 2 of said forms, on the outside of the corners, connected by the corner form 35, the hinge eyes 39 of which are secured by the pins 40 to the hinge eyes 20 on one panel 2 of each form I. The panels 22 of the cores I, of the thus connected forms are shifted longitudinally into butt joint relation, as at 46, 41. As also shown in Figure 1, a window frame 48 may be interposed between the panels 2 of a form I so that the wall may be built up to said frame, and screws 49 may be driven into the frame 43, diagonally, and embedded in the wall to tie said frame and wall together. The numeral 50 designates a brick window sill which needs merely be identified in passing.
In filling the form I, of my invention, to build a hollow wall in accordance with the method described, a concrete mix is to be used which is of a consistency such that the mix will not run out of the open ends of the form as would happen with the usual poured mix.
The foregoing will, it is believed, suflice to impart a clear understanding of my invention, without further explanation.
Manifestly, the invention, as described, is susceptible to modification without departing from the inventive concept, and right is herein reserved to such modifications as fall within the scope of the appended claims.
What I claim is:
1. A form for molding hollow concrete walls comprising a pair of elongated rectangular panels, a pair of knock down yokes straddling the pair of panels adjacent opposite ends thereof and spacing the same apart laterally, a core interposed be-' tween the pair of panels comprising a second pair of elongated rectangular panels, means interposed between said second pair of panels and spacing the same apart laterally, and means on said yokes interposed between the second pair of panels to center the core between the pair of panels first mentioned, the first mentioned means comprising bars hinged to one panel of the second mentioned pair for swinging into crosswise position relative thereto into effective spacing position, and yokes straddling said second pair of panels with pivoted uprights swingable to clamp said second pair of panels to opposite sides of said bars.
2. A form for molding hollow concrete walls' straddling said second pair of panels with pivoted uprights swingable to clamp said second pair of panels to opposite sides of said bars.
3. In a form for molding hollow concrete walls, a core including a pair of opposed panels, and
means for spacing said panels apart comprising bars hinged to one panel of the pair for swinging into crosswise position relative to the pair into' 'eil'ective spacing position, and yokes straddling 5 said pair of panels with pivoted uprights swingable to clamp the panels of said pair to opposite sides of said bars.
