It is another object of the present invention to provide in a tooth paste tube dispenser anarrangement where the cap of the tube need not be removed and replaced upon using the dispenser and wherein the opening of the outlet end of the tube is automatically done with the compressing of the tube and wherein the tube is held in place within the dispenser chamber by a threaded connection with the head which is secured to the wall of the dispenser and which carries the valve element that is worked by the operating member at the time the operating member and the tube compressing member are gripped to discharge the tooth paste ribbon onto the tooth brush.

Other objects of the invention are to provide a tooth paste dispenser of a type which automatically has its outlet end opened as the tube is compressed, which is of simple construction, inexpensive to manufacture, adapted to hang upon a wall, has a minimum number .of parts, compact, easy to operate and eificient in use.

7 For other objects and for a better understanding of the invention, reference may be had to the following detailed description taken in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which Fig. 1 is a perspective view of the dispenser embodying the features of the present invention and illustrating the manner in which the valve element and the compressing member are operated.

Referring now to the figures, It and I! represent respectively the two'halves of .a casing which are secured together to house the tooth paste *tube I32. Thesemembers are generally of channel shapezand are. closed at their upper end. The pin I! has a handle I8 thereon to facilitate the movements into and out of holes I9 in the parts.

The casing parts, at their side edges, are relieved to provide a slot 2! in which a tube compressing arrangement 22 may operate. This tube compressing arrangement includes an operating member 23 having a thumb grip portion and a transversely extending portion 25 and moves vertically within the casing parts. This transverse portion 25 has projections 26 and 21 between which there is journaled a roller 28 that engages the flexible tube l2 to compress the same as a pull or push downwardly upon the handle or thumb portion 24 is effected.

The tube I2 is connected by its threaded outlet end 3| to the head I3 and is held firmly within the casing parts It] and Il thereby. Within the head I3 is a recess 32 into which a tooth brush 33 can be passed to receive tooth paste from the threaded end 31 of the tube l2. Within this recess there is a Valve element 34 pivotally connected, as indicated at 35, and is operated by a link 35 extending upwardly through an opening 37 in the member l3 and connected to a finger operating member 38 that is held within a projection 39 for vertical sliding adjustment. Within this projection 39 are compression springs 4| which will return the operating member 38 to its down position and thus working through the link 35 the valve element 34 will be automatically closed. The projection 39 is vertically aligned with the tube compressing arrangement 22 so that the operating member 38 and the handle 2 of the tube compressing arrangement can be gripped by th one hand of the user while the other hand serves to extend the brush 33 under the dispenser to receive tooth paste. The operating member 38 is held against downward displacement from the projection 39 by small projections 42.

.In the casing parts 10 and H respectively are vertically extending grooves 44 which serve to guide the end of a pin 45 that connects roller 28 with the projections 26 and 21 of the operating member 23.

The device can be detachably supported upon a wall bracket 46 through a projection 41 on the rear face of the device.

It should now be apparent that there has been provided a tooth paste dispenser wherein automatically as the tube is compressed the valve element controlling the flow of the paste from the tube is opened to dispense paste onto the tooth brush.

While various changes may be made in the detail construction, it shall be understood that such changes shall be within the spirit and scope of the present invention as defined by the appended claims. 7

What is claimed is:

1. In a tooth paste dispenser of a type having a casing having a vertically extending slot and a tube compressing arrangement vertically adjustable in the slot, a removable head releasably connected to the casing and having a threaded opening for receiving the outlet end of a tooth paste tube, a valve element pivotally connected to said head and adapted to normally close the outlet end of the tube when the head is mounted in place upon the casing and with the tube extending upwardly thereinto, said head having an operating member for the valve element movable with respect to the head, a projection on the casing for housing the operating member, biasing means acting between the projection and the operating member and urging the valve element normally to the closed position, said projection and the operating member of the valve element being under the tube compressing arrangement so that a single hand may grip the tube compressing arrangement and the valve operating element simultaneously.

2. A tooth paste dispenser of the type having a casing with a vertically extending slot and a tube compressing arrangement vertically adjustable in the slot as defined in claim 1 and said head member having a transverse recess adapted to receive a brush and said valve element operable within the transverse recess and engageable with the threaded end of the tube.
