Another feature of my invention resides in the provision of a coil or like spring adapted to keep the mechanism in the adjusted position by counteracting any backlash in the mechanism contrawise to the adjusting screw.
A further feature of my invention resides in the provision of a stay bar pivoted at a 'point of its length to one side of the frame hinged to the stationary casing, which bar is formed at one end in the shape of a hook adapted to cooperate with a stud on said stationary casing to keep the frame in its raised position to allow adjusting the position of the stop bars and locating the prints.
Still another feature of the invention resides in the provision of a short propping bar pivoted to one side of the frame, provided with an operating knob and adapted to keep the frame in a lower position. Other features and advantages of -my margining device will be pointed out in the'following description of a preferred embodiment of the same, in the course of which reference will be had to the appended drawing in which:

I p v Mounted on the fulcrum pins 24 are a pair of links 28, 29 which, in association with a bar 38, constitute a parallelogram; the 'bar 38 can be acted upon with the aid of a screw 3! threaded through a hole tapped in the stationary casing. The action upon bar 30 is transmitted through the link 22 and a connecting bar 32 to one arm of a bell-crank lever 34 pivoted at 23 and whose other arm carries a pin 35 projecting through w an arcuate aperture 36 milled in the base-plate; pivotally secured to said pin below the baseplate 3 in a bar 3'! providing one of the print squaring side stops.
Mounted on fulcrum pin 22 at some distance from the bell-crank lever 34 isa similar bellcrank lever 33 whose pin 38 projects likewise through an arcuate aperture 49 in the base-plate below which the other end of the bar 31 is 5 ivotally connected with said pin 39. o
A helical-spring 48, as seen in Fig. 3, has one end fastened-to the base 3 and its other end fastened to an arm 4| of the bell-crank 38. Parts" hereinafter described cause the arm 4| to be moved when the screw 3i 'is operated. The spring therefore moves the arm li in opposition to that of the pressure screw 3| and also eliminates play in the various pivotal connections of the parts.
The arm 4| of the bell-crank lever 38 is pivotally connected with a coupling bar 4? connecting the arm "33' of bell-cranklever-M with'the' arm 43 of a bell-crank lever 44 associated with a similarbell-crank lever '45; the'fulcruins of ":be 1 l crank levers '44 and 45 are located on a li ne at right angles to the line through 22 and 23 and are constituted by centrally threaded fulcrum pins 2i which at the same time serve to maintain and locate the base plate '3 carrying the mechanisminside' the stationary casing l V The arms 43am 46 of the bell-crank' levers 4 44 and 45 carry pins projecting through arcuate apertures 41, 48 cut in the base-plate at right angles to apertures 36, 49; pivotally secured to the ends of said pins below the baseplate 3 is a bar 56 at right angles to bar 42. The other arms of the bell-crank levers 44, 45 are interconnected by a coupling bar 5 I. Graduated on a portion of the plate 3 projecting to the outside of the stationary casing l adjacent to the slot 411s a scale 53.
It will be appreciated that with this mechathem any deformation of the parallelogram 24,
' '28, 2'9, 30 by the action of the screw 3| results in synchronous displacements of the stop bars 3'! and 50 by the action of the two sets of bell-crank levers 34, 38, 44, 45, which displacements are ex- 'actly indicated on the scale 53.

It is to be understood that the invention is by no means limited to the embodiment described hereinbefore merely by way of example, and that inodificatiohs may be made in the arrangement of the mechanism, the mounting of the parts on the base-plate, the connection of the cover plate with said base-plate, the connection of the cover plate with said'bas e plate, etc., without thereby departing from the scope of the invention. A margining device for use in positive printing of the type comprising a rectangular frame fil providing a mask, two adjacent sides of which square, two graduated rails 8, 9 respectively fastened to said adjacent sides 6, 1, the two other sides l8, II being adjustable by sliding on the graduated rails 8, 9 along the two first sides as desired, and a pair of horizontal margining stop bars 59, 31 parallel respectively with either side 6, 1 of said rigid unit and horizontally adjustable perpendicularly to their direction as desired, in combination with a stationary casing I to which one 1 of the first sides of said rigid unit is hinged on a horizontal line, means I4, l8 to support said rigid unit in at least one raised position around said horizontal line and in dropped position as desired, a movement transmitting mechanism housed inside of the stationary casing I and operatively associated with both margining stop bars 50, 31 to provide for adjustment of said stop bars horizontally simultaneously in parallel motion towards the center of the mask 6, 1, I0, I l or outwards, said mechanism comprising a horizontal base plate 3 fixed inside of the stationary casing l, a pair of bell-crank levers 34, 38 pivoted each on a separate pivot to said horizontal base plate and pivotally connected with that 31 of said margining stop bars which is parallel to the hinged side 1 of the rigid unit 6-, 1, another pair of bell-crank levers 43, pivoted to said base plate 3 and pivotally connected with the other 50 of said margining stop bars, a bar 42 coupling one arm'of the levers in the first-mentioned pair with one arm of one lever in the last mentioned pair, a further bar 5! coupling the levers in the lastmentioned pair with each other, the arm lengths of these various bell-crank levers being so proportioned that either stop bar 50, 31 shall be displaced in parallel motion by an amount suitably related to the displacement of the other, an actuating lever 29 pivoted to the stationary casing l, a link 32 connecting said lever with one of the bell-crank levers, means 3| to move the whole system of levers and bars in one or the other direction andto secure said system as desired, and a spring 40 pulling on the same in the proper direction to take up any backlash in the mechanism.
