(Cl. 206-44) My invention relates to a new and useful gift package and has for ne of its objects to produce a packet including articles believed to have significances of luck to the recipient who is betrothed, one of the articles being an item of wearing apparel to be worn by the recipient during the wedding ceremony, and all of said articles combined in a manner to function as a plaque.

Another object of my invention is to produce a gift package consisting of a box having some transparency and including a removable cover held in place by adhesive tape and surmounted by a bouquet of artificial lilies-of-the-valley tied with white ribbon having a portion formed into a hanger loop and a terminal end secured in place by an appropriate seal, said box containing a lacy background panel on which is detachably mounted a blue circular leg garter with a coin (penny) suspended therefrom by a part of a ribbon bow.

A further object of the present invention is to provide a gift package which is useful as a memento and partially as an article of wearing apparel, and one that appeals to the esthetic sense of the possessor.

With the above and other objects in view, this invention consists of the details of construction and combination of elements hereinafter set forth and then designated by the claims.

In order that those skilled in the art to which this invention appertains may understand how to make and use the same I will describe its construction in detail referring by numerals to the accompanying drawing forming a part hereof, in which:

Fig. 1 is a front elevation of a gift package produced in accordance with my invention.

Fig. 2 is a lower edge view of Fig. 1 with a portion of the cover or lid holding adhesive tape removed.

Fig. 3 is a fragmentary rear view of the package.

In carrying out my invention as herein embodied 5 represents a box or other suitable receptacle including a body 6 and a lid, cover or closure 1, the latter being telescoped over or otherwise suitably mounted on the side walls 8 of said body. The closure 1 is of transparent material and the box body can be of similar material although, by preference, the bottom or back 9 of said body is of a rigid opaque material, such as metal, stiff paper stock or other suitable equivalents, while the side walls 8 are of transparent material similar to that of the closure.

The closure 1 is detachably secured to the box body 5, preferably, by means of a strip of adhesive tape l0, which is imposed on the side walls 8 of the body and in overlapping relation to the edge of the closure flange to cover the joint I I whereby the box will be dustproof.

Inside of the box and resting on the inner surface of the bottom 9 is an ornamental panel or doily l2, preferably white for color contrasts and representative of purity. Removably attached to the panel 12, by means of short strips of adhesive tape, is a circular leg garter Id of highly ornamental and filmy lace appearance and including a rosette l5 and a bow l6 of blue ribbon having its strands tied in a multiplicity of knots, as indicated at H. To one strand of the ribbon bow I6 is permanently secured a coin l8,.herein shown as a one-cent piece and known as a penny.

A small bouquet H! of imitation lilies-of-thevalley is tied with a bow 20 of white ribbon having many of its strands tied in a multiplicity of knots 21. The floral bouquet l9 and the ribbon bow 20 are attached, as a unit, to the exterior surface of the closure 1 in the region of the area of the box referred to as the upper portion thereof. One of the end strands, as 22, of the ribbon bow 20 extends rearwardly under the closure fastening tape l0, then folded or formed into a loop 23, and anchored on the outside surface of the bottom 9 of the box by suitable means 24, such as a section of adhesive tape. The balance of the ribbon strand 22 projects downwardly along the outside surface of the bottom 9 and the terminal end thereof fastened down by an appropriately ornamented seal 25 pasted to said outside surface of said bottom.

The package is designed to be presented to a bride-to-be and on her wedding day the box is opened by detaching the closure holding tape Ill. The garter, with the lucky penny secured thereto, is then detached from the background panel and removed from the box so that said garter can be put on the leg and worn during the ceremony. This provides something new and blue as well as the lucky coin for the bride and eliminates the usual procedure of placing a coin in the shoe which can be annoying.

Sometime after the ceremony the garter can be replaced in the box and the latter returned to its original condition and the package suspended from a suitable support by means of the hanger loop 23 to become an ornamental plaque functioning as a memento of an eventful period of ones life.

Having described my invention What I claim as new and useful is:

1. As an article of manufacture, a gift package comprising a receptacle including a detachable transparent closure, means to temporarily hold said. closure in place, a bouquet of artificial.

and a blue leg garter having a bow of ribbon.

As an article of manufacture, a gift package consisting of a box having some transparency whereby the interior is visible, and including a body and'sep'arableclosure, means to temporarily hold said closure on said body, a leg garter removably secured within the box and completely visible from the exterior at the front of said box, said garter including a bow'of ribbon surmounted by arosette and a coin secured to a strand of the bow ribbon to hang in pendant fashion, and a bouquet comprised of sprays of artificial liliesof-the-valley tied with a bow of ribbon having a strand folded to form a loop, said bouquet unit secured to the exterior of the closure contiguous the perimeter thereof.
