1 Claim.

This invention relates to a roulette wheel and more particularly to a portable type thereof.

An object of my invention is to eliminate the necessity for providing a table with colored spaces and numbers for placing stakes asin the ordinary roulette wheel.

Another object is to provide such a wheel that is compact and can be easily carried about from place to place.

Another object is to eliminate the chance of dispute as to the winner of the game.

Another object is to provide such a wheel that is simple and durable in construction and inexpensive to manufacture.

My improved wheel comprises a rectangular shaped casing or housing I formed of wood or other suitable material and having an inner shallow compartment I I at the front for holding the playing pieces, such as poker chips I2.

Rotatably mounted in the housing is a wheel or rotor I3. The Wheel comprises a cup-shaped device formed of any suitable material such as wood and has a oor I4 and an annular upstanding wall I with an open top. A number of spaced radial walls or partitions I 6 extend from the outer annular wall I5 to central upper and lower hub portions IB and I'I, respectively. These partitions divide the cup-shaped device into various compartments I8. Each compartment has a number preferably on the irner surface of the Wall partition I5 to identify it. Eight of such compartments are illustrated but it will be understood that any number desired may be used. A shaft I9 extends through the hub portions and protrudes below the iloor I4. Fastened to the underside of the floor at its center by means of screws 2I is a disc member 22 having a convex lower surface 23.

The lower end of the shaft loosely ts in a metallic sleeve 24 fastened to a block 25 secured to the floor of the housing at substantially its center by means of screws 23 or other suitable fastening means. The sleeve is formed with an axial opening having a floor with a pointed seat 2 2l for supporting the pointed end'28 of the shaft to permit said shaft to spin in the sleeve.

A washer member 29 is fastened to the top of the block by screws 30 and is provided with an upper concave or dished surface for cooperating with the convex surface of the disc 22 on the floor of the wheel. This facilitates spinning of the wheel. The disc and washer member are sufficiently large in area to rmly support the wheel so that it will not wobble and so that it will spin in a steady manner. The parts may of course be properly lubricated te prevent friction.

In use my improved wheel is spun around, by turning by hand the knurled knob 3| at the top of the shaft, an indefinite number of times so that one of the compartments I8 will stop by chance in front of a fixed pointer 32 or the like mounted on the inside of the rear wall of the housing. When the wheel comes to a stop, the pointer will point to a certain compartment containing a playing piece or chip I2 containing a number, such as 3, and the player who selected this compartment by placing a chip numbered "3 therein is declared the winner. Of course, it will be understood that the chips may or may not be numbered.

If the wheel should stop so that one of the radia1 walls is -directly in line with the pointer, it is considered no game and the wheel must again be spun until the wheel is stopped at a point where the pointer points to some compartment 'as will be understood.

The housing may have a double hinged cover 33 with a clasp 34 for interlocking with an eyelet 35 and may be provided with a handle 36 for carrying it.

I claim:

A portable roulette wheel including a housing having a floor and side walls, a block secured on said floor centrally thereof, an elongated sleeve member mounted centrally in said block and having a solid bottom end portion, a wheel member inside said housing formed with a floor portion and a plurality of numbered compartments for receiving game pieces. a shaft extending centrally through said wheel member and said elongated sleeve and rotatably supported on the solid end of the sleeve, washer members having complementary curved surfaces disposed between the floor of the Wheel member and the block, a pointer fixed to the inner surface of one of the side walls of the housing and pointing toward the compartments in the wheel member and a knob on the outer end of the shaft for turning the same.
