` source as the pegs.
Further, an aim is to provide a ring mounting the pegs and part which illuminates the clock hands, which is made of Lucite which coacts directly with the illuminating means.
The more specific objects and advantages will become apparent from a consideration of the description following taken in connection with accompanying drawings illustrating an operative embodiment.
In said drawings:
Figure 1 is a view of the improved structure in.
front elevation;
Figure 2 is a vertical sectional view taken on the line 2-2 of Figure i;
Figure 3 is a vertical section taken at a right angle to Figure 2 and on the line 3-3 of Figure 2;
Figure 4 is a plan View;
Figure 5 is a detail section taken on the line 5 5 of Figure 3;
Figure 6 is an elevation of the Lucite" ring and pegs thereof l Figure 7 is a fragmentary front elevation of the Lucite ring and a peg of modified form; and
Figure 8 is a perspective view of a fragment of the ring and peg of a further modified form. Referring speciiically to the drawings wherein like reference characters designate like or similar parts, I provide a ring at I having pegs it l extending forwardly therefrom to indicate from one to twelve as in the case of an ordinary clock. This ring i0 and pegs Il. which may be integral with the ring or separate therefrom and attached thereto, as preferred, are adapted to be made of Lucite Such parts l0 and Il are embedded or mounted in a shell generally designated i2, with the pegs il projecting forwardly preferably slightly beyond the front of lthe shell. Such shell may be mounted on or constitute part or" a base or other support at I3.
At the rear of the shell, it has a recess or cavity il in whichany standard clock works i is operatively mounted.
Movable over the exposed ends of the pegs H are minute and hour hands i6 and i1 both of Lucite which are operatively attached to the lminute and hour-hand operating shafts i8 and i9, respectively, of the clock works I8.
The shell l2-and support I3 may be made of any suitable material for instance, of wood, metal or plastic, or any combination of them, but preferably being finished in a color darker than the Lucite in order to contrast therewith.
'It will be noted that a generally L-shaped strip 20 is also inserted in the shell i2, being integral with or attached to the ring I0 and being of Lucite," such strip-20 terminating in a head 2l.
which is open at the outer face of the shell IZ directly behind and in line with portions of the handsiiil and l1.
The clock works I5 are preferably electrically operable and from the same source of energy therefor, an electric lamp 20 is energized. This lamp is accommodated in a cavity or space 2l at the back of the base I3 and is relatively close to and directly under an arcuate edge portion 22 of ring lli.
As a result, with the lamp 20 in illuminated condition, the light will pass through the ring I0 and then to the exposed ends of the pegs il and head 2i, whereby the ends of the pegs and the end of the head 2|, and hands i6 and i1 will beI illuminated.
Various changes may be resorted to' provided they fall within the spirit and scope of the invention. For instance, as shown in Figure *7, the free ends of the pegs il may be provided with numerals corresponding to the hours represented by such pegs about the clcck dial.
Also, as shown in Figure 8, where the ring is designated Illa and is made of Lucite like the preceding rings, the pegs here designated ila and also of Lucite, are preferably in the form of numerals in cross section or at?. least at their outer ends, the numerals corresponding to the occurrence oi' the hours and their indications about the dial of a clock or timepiece.
I claim as my invention:
A structure of the class described comprising a ring, pegs extendingfrom the ring, and arranged in clock-dial formation, clock works, an hour hand and a minute hand of "Lucite carried by the hour-hand and minute-hand operating shaft of said clock works, respectively, said ring and pegs being of Lucite a strip of Lucite extending from the ring and terminating behind and in line with said hands, and illuminating means adjacent an edge portion of the ring, a shell mounting the ring and pegs, said shell having a cavity in which the clock works are disposed, supporting means for the shell, and said supporting means having the illuminating means therein.
