1 Claim.

This invention relates to over-shoe construction, the primary object of the invention being to provide an over-shoe especially designed for use on shoes known as the wedge-type.

An important object of the invention is to provide an over-shoe constructed of waterproof material, so designed that the top of the overshoe may be snugly fitted around the instep of the wearer to exclude water from the top of the over-shoe.

Another object of the invention is to provide an over-shoe wherein the upper thereof is split, providing flaps which may be turned down and secured, should it be desired to provide a low over-shoe.

With the foregoing and other objects in view which will appear as the description proceeds, the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts, hereinafter more fully described and pointed out in the claims, it being understood that changes may be made in the construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the spirit of the invention as claimed.

Referring to the drawings:

Figure 1 is a perspective view of an overeshoe constructed in accordance with the invention, as fitted on a wedge-type of shoe.

Figure 2 is a side elevational view thereof.

Figure 3 is a sectional view taken substantially on line 3-3 of Figure 1.

Figure 4 is a sectional view through one of the head and socket fasteners of the over-shoe flaps, taken on line 4-4 of Fig. 3.

Referring to the drawing in detail, the overshoe comprises the sole portion 5, which is constructed to fit over the sole of a wedge-style shoe, the sole being constructed preferably of thick rubber, to withstand wear to which the usual over-shoe is subjected.

The reference character 6 indicates the upper of the over-shoe, which is split at the front to a point spaced a substantial distance from the toe of the rubber, providing flaps I and 8, the flap 8 having a fastener section in the form of a head 9, adapted to fit into the socket of the flap 7, when the over-shoe is to be worn as a high over-shoe.

The fastener of which the double socket l0 forms a part, includes outer socket H which is positioned on the flap 1, to receive the head I2 at one side of the over-shoe when the flap l is moved downwardly to provide a low over-shoe.

The head 9 is so arranged that when the flap 8 is moved downwardly to fit over the socket 13 at this side of the shoe and located adjacent to the sole of the over-shoe at a point in direct 2 alignment with the head I2, the head 9 may be extended into the socket 13 to hold the flap 8 down, in providing a low over-shoe.

As shown by Figure 4 of the drawing, the double socket is made preferably of sheet metal material, providing a body portion 14 to be clamped to the material of which the over-shoe is constructed, to receive the head 9 or I? associated therewith, in providing a head and socket fastener.

From the foregoing it will be seen that due to the construction shown and described, I have provided an over-shoe which may be extended to provide a high over-shoe for use in extremely bad weather, while during milder weather, the flaps may be turned downwardly, providing a low over-shoe, for the convenience of the wearer.

Having thus described the invention, what is claimed is:

A convertible over-shoe including an upper section extending up to a point below the ankle and. a lower section having a sole, the upper section being split from the forward upper edge only to a point adjacent the toe portion of the lower section thus providing flaps, a double socket fastener secured to the upper front corner of one of the flaps and a fastener head secured to the front corner of the other flap for securing the flaps together when the fasteners on the flaps are connected, a fastener head secured to the lower section of the over-shoe on one side of the lower section near the sole of the lower section, a socket secured to said lower section near the sole thereof at the opposite side thereof, said last named fastener head and socket cooperating with the socket and fastener head respectively of the flaps in holding the flaps at the front of the over-shoe open.
