Description
C. M. GOULD, OF VORCESTER, MASSACHUSETTS.
SUBMARINE-HELMET WINDOW.
Speccation of Letters Patent No. 24,864, dated July 16, 1859.
To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, CHARLES M. GOULD, of the city and county of Wlorcester and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful lindow orSubmarine Helmets; and I do hereby declare that the following is a full and exact description thereof, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to the letters of reference marked thereon, Figure 1 being a middle cross-sec tion, and Fig. 2 a perspective of the same.
The object of my invention is to prevent the condensation of vapors on the window of submarine helmets.
The nature of my invention consists in confining two separate plates of glass (a, a
Fig. l) in one common bezel (B, Fig. l)
with a space (e Fig. l) between them. The glasses are bedded on gum elastic cloth, or its equivalent, so as to protect the space between them from the entrance of water, consequently made air tight, and the whole securely held in place by means of screw rims (c c, Fig. l).
That I claim as my invention, and desire to secure by Letters Patent is The application to submarine helmets of the above described window, substantially in the manner and for the purposes herein described. CHARLES M. GOULD.
lVitnesses JASON CHAPIN, JEROME CARTER.
