This invention relates to improvements in portable folding camp stoves.
An object of the invention is to provide :an improved portable folding camp stove which will be formed in four sections, which may be read ily assembled when the stove is to be used, and which may be readily dismantled when the stove is to be folded up and packed for carrying from one place to another.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved portable folding camp stove which will include .a bottom to which the opposite sides of the .stove are hinged, and a top to which the opposite ends of the stove are hinged, and a pair of angularly disposed inter-connected sets of legs adapted to interlock at the four corners of the stove to support the same and to lock the several parts of said stove in assembled position.
Another object of the invention is to provide an improved portable wood burning folding camp stove which may be readily dismantled and packed into a fiat package for transporting from place to place, and which may be set up in a very short time when it is intended to use stove, said stove being provided with a hinged door on one end in which a regulatable draft is disposed, and a smoke pipe opening will be formed through the top of said stove.
A further object of the invention is to provide a sheet-metal portable folding wood burning camp stove which will be highly efficient in operating and relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
Other objects will appear as the description proceeds.
In the accompanying drawings, which form a part of this application,
Figure 1 is a plan view of the improved folding camp stove.
Figure 2 is a side elevation of the improved folding camp stove.
Figure 3 is an end View of the improved folding camp stove.
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 2.
Figure 5 is a perspective view showing the stove top interlocking over the upper edge of one of the stove sides.
Figure 6 is a plan view of the stove bottom with opposite sides hinged thereto extending in a flat plane.
Figure 7 is a bottom plan view of the stove top with opposite ends hinged thereto showing the locking groove extending above the hinges of said top and ends.
1 Claim. (Cl. 1269) Figure 8 is a plan View of the stove knocked down and ready for transporting from one place to another.
Figure 9 is an end view of the stove when knocked down and ready for transporting from one place to another.
Figure 10 is an end View of the stove in knocked down packed form ready for moving from place to place, and
Figure 11 is a perspective view of a pair of cooperating inter-connected end legs for the stove.
Like characters of reference are used throughout the following specification and the accompanying drawings to designate corresponding parts.
In carrying out the invention, there is provided an improved portable wood burning folding camp stove having a substantially rectangular shaped bottom I and oppositely disposed sides 2 and 3, the same being hinged by the piano type hinges 4 and 5 with the opposite sides of the said bottom section I.
The substantially rectangular shaped stove top 6 is formed along its opposite ends with the piano type hinges l and 8, to which the opposite ends 9 and ll] of the stove are connected to be supported by said stove top. A reinforced locking groove II is positioned about the opposite side of the top 6 and about the sides and ends of the end members 9 and I 0, so that when the stove bottom I is arranged with the hinged sides 2 and 3 extending at right angles upwardly therefrom, the said top 6 will interlock over the upper ends of the side members and the locking grooves in the ends 9 and ID will receive the edges of the said bottom and side members to hold same in assembled position.
Two pairs of right angular L-shaped legs l2 and I3 are connected together at the unit by means of the reinforcing straps l4 and I5, the same being secured to the legs by means of the rivets or other fastening means Iii, clearly illustrated in Figure 11 of the drawings.
After the bottom and sides of the stove, have been erected and the top and ends have been interlocked thereon to form a completed unit, the upwardly extending arms I! will be engaged in the U-shaped clips 18 riveted at l9 to the outer surfaces of the opposite sides and ends of said stove, thereby locking the several members or portions of said stove in assembled position to be substantially rigid.
A smoke pipe opening I 9 will be formed through the top 6 adjacent one corner at the rear of the stove remote from the door 2| which is hinged by means of the hinges 22 to the stove end It], and is provided with the pivoted latch 23, the same being pivoted at 24 and adapted to engage the keeper 25 secured to the stove end I!) by means of the rivet 26.
A draft aperture 21 illustrated as being diamond-shaped is cut through the door 2| and is regulatable by means of the pivoted damper plate 28 pivoted on the pin 29, so that the draft opening may be regulated as desired.
The construction of the improved portable wood burning folding camp stove is such that it may be knocked down in a matter of a very few minutes and packed ready for transportation, and may likewise be readily assembled when needed in a matter of a few minutes. The size of the stove is such that it will burn quite large logs, and it has been shown that when large logs are placed in the stove to burn, it will require considerably less attention than were the logs of a smaller size.
From the foregoing description, it will be apparent that there has been provided a highly efilcient form of portable wood burning foldin camp stove which will be relatively inexpensive to manufacture and produce.
While the preferred embodiment of the instant invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that it is not intended to limit the scope of the invention thereto, as many minor changes in detail of construction may be resorted to without departure from the spirit of the invention.
to engage simultaneously pairs of said clips one on one of said ends and one on one of said sides,
and reinforcin straps rigidly securin pairs of said legs together, said straps being in parallel spaced pairs terminally secured to opposite sides of the legs, and said top, bottom, sides and ends being insertable between the straps when in collapsed positions.
