The terminus or spout 24 of each discharge tube 23 is above the topmost points of the containers so that liquid in the container will not be discharged through the discharge tube 23 until the attachment is tilted for decanting.
The attachment I0 functions as follows:
The bottle with the attachment fitted thereto as hereinabove described is first tilted so that one of the containers is is at a lower level than the mouth of the bottle (see Fig. 6) so that liquid will flow from the bottle through the central tube l3, down one of the feed tubes IT and into the lower container, filling it. The bottle is then tilted so that the filled container is uppermost and the empty container-in lower position. Liquid from the uppermost filled container will now flow through its discharge tube 23 and out of the spout 24, the inside portion 22 of the feed tube acting as a trap to prevent the liquid from reentering the bottle, simultaneously liquid from the bottle will flow therefrom down into the central tube l3 and down the lower feed tube I'I filling the lowered container. Thus one of the containers can always be filled while the other is being discharged, the amount of discharge being predetermined and equal to the capacity of the container. The attachment can be removed and the filled container discharged without filling its mate when desired.
Figures '7 and 8 show a modified bottle attachment 25 for dispensing a measured quantity of liquid. The attachment 25 is provided with two modified containers or measures 26 each of which has an opening 21 in its base from which a short threaded neck 28 extends.
Two supplementary containers 29, each with an opening 30 and a threaded neck 3| capable of engaging the neck 28, can be removably secured to the measures 26 to increase the capacity of a discharge or loading. When the supplementary containers are not used, a threaded cap (not shown) can be screwed on the container neck 28 to seal its base opening 21.
In all other respects, the attachment 25 is in every way similar to the attachment l0 heretofore described and is operated in the same manner.
While I have illustrated and described the preferred embodiment of my invention, it is to be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming within the scope of the invention as defined in the appended claims.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by United States Letters Patent is:
