Description
RING DISPLAY HOLDER Filed Aug. '7, 1946 Jacab Mickelaon /zm wv ATTORNEY Patented Aug. 30, 1949 uNiTEi-o- STATES PATENT o-FFicE 2,480,756 RING DISPLAY HOLDER 1 Jacob Michelson, Brookl mN. Y? I h igieatiosn gust 7, 194e, Serial No. 33991 This invention relates to a ring display holder. Broadly, it is an object of my invention to provide a display holder for finger rings which can hold rings of different widths.
More particularly, it is an object of my invention to provide a ring display holder with recesses to hide the ticket usually attached to the ring and permit a display tag to be visible.
Another object is to provide a ring display holder which can be tilted at different angles and which may be removed from the base if desired.
Still another object is to provide resilient means for holding the rings in a display position.
Another object is to provide an inexpensive ring display holder having a neat and rich appearance.
For a fuller understanding of the nature and objects of my invention, reference is had to the following detailed description in connection with the accompanying drawing, in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view.
Figure 2 is a sectional view taken through line 2-2 of Figure 1.
Figure 3 is a front view with part of the covering material cut away.
Referring to the drawing, numeral ill represents a base which may be of wood, plastic, glass, metal or other like materials and may be rectangular, round or other desired shape, and may be covered with velvet I9, or other material. A pair of opposed brackets ll having indents l2 are embedded within base l0. Brackets II are preferably made of flexible metal or plastic.
A block [3, preferably of rectangular shape and made of plastic, metal, wood or the like, is mounted somewhat above the upper surface of base 10 upon brackets ll. Slight indents or depressions are made in the opposed sides of block [3 to receive the indents l2 of brackets II. The flexibility of brackets H holds block !3 and permits it to pivot about the indents l2. Of course, pins and small openings may be substituted for the same purpose.
Block l3 has a recess M in the top and a recess l-5 in the front central part within which felt padding l6 and I1 respectively is placed. Another recess l8 may be placed in the front to removably hold a ticket stating the price or other information. Block I3 is preferably covered with velvet H), or other suitable material and is folded back upon itself at the front, as shown at 20, providing a pocket 2| within which a tag 22 usually attached to a ring 23 for display may be hidden. Figure 1 shows the tag 22 slightly above the pocket line; however, pocket 2| may be made deep enough to hold the usual tag used so that it does not show.
Hinged at the bottom central part of the block I3 is a holding arm 25 made of flexible metal or plastic having a right angle bend at the upper part 25 with an indent 26 which falls within recess l4 when in locked position, felt padding l6 providing resiliency while the flexibility of member 24 holds it in position.
In order to display ring 23 upon the holder, arm 24 is opened as shown in the dotted line of Figure 2 and ring 23 is placed over arm 24 and brought down to rest at the lower part of recess l5. Arm 24 is then closed as shown in Figures 1 and 2 clamping the ring against the resiliency of felt padding I! and the velvet I9. Practically any width of ring can be accommodated and displayed since the ring rests at the bottom of the recess IS. The tag 22 held by string 21 is placed within recess or pocket 2| so that it does not mar the appearance nor does it detract from the appearance of the display.
If the display holder is placed within a low window it may be desirable to pivot block l3 at an angle, or block l3 may be removed from between brackets I I and placed face upward in horizontal position, if desired.
It is obvious that various changes and modifications may be made in the details of construction and arrangement of parts without departing from the general spirit of the invention.
I claim:
1. A ring display holder of the character described comprising a backing block, a recess in the center of the front of said backing block, a resilient pad within said recess, a hingeable flexible arm 'pivotally attached to the center of the base of said block for clamping a ring against said block and within said recess and a fabric covering said block, said fabric folded across the front of said block and upon itself creating a pocket for inserting a tag.
2. A ring display holder of the character described comprising a backing block, a recess in the central front of said backing block, a resilient pad within said recess, a hingeable flexible arm at the center base of the front of said block for clamping a ring against said block and within said recess, a fabric covering said block, said fabric folded across the front of said block and upon itself creating a pocket for inserting a tag, and a base having a pair of opposed brackets for pivotly receivin said block and holding said block above said base.
3. A ring display holder of the character described comprising a backing block, a recess in the central front of said backing block, a resilient pad within said recess, a hingeable flexible arm pivotally attached to the bottom front of said block for clamping a ring against said block and within said recess, a recess in the top of said block for releasabiy holding said arm. a fabric covering said block, said fabric folded across the front and upon itself creating a pocket for inserting a tag, and a base having a pair of opposed brackets for pivotly receiving said block, said brackets holding said block above said base.
4. A ring display holder of the character described comprising a backing block, a recess apblock, a resilient pad within said recess, a hingeable flexible arm hingeable at the base of the front of said backing block for clamping a against said block and within said recess and a fabric covering said block, said recess and said pad, said fabric folded upon itself across the front of said block creating a pocket for inserting a tag, a recess in the top center of said block for releasably holding said arm, a recess in the central front of said block for holding a display card, and a base having a pair of opposed brackets for pivotiy receiving said block and holding said block above said base.
