In the accompanying drawings I have illustrated one complete example of the physical embodiment of my invention according to the best mode I have thus far devised, but it will be understood that various changes and alterations may be made in the exemplified structure within the scope of the appended claims.

Referring now to the drawings wherein I have illustrated the present preferred embodiment of my invention I employ a. ring frame 2 of heavy wire to which are attached by rings 4 the conventional wire mesh sphere shaped portions 6 supported on arms 8 of heavy wire and looped at In about the ring 2 and terminating outwardly in supporting legs l2 inturned at I Secured to the straight edges I 6 of the portions 6 by ring like members I are the sections l8 of the pyramidial inner sifter screen normally extending upwardly by rings I 9 to supporting wires 22. The supportin wires 22 being hinged at an acute angle and hinged at 20 to the arms 8 supporting the portions 6. The supporting wires 22 for these sections l8 are secured by loops 24 to the disk 26 which is centrally apertured to slide upon guide rod 28, the sections l8 are secured to the disk 26 by ring members 23'.
This guide rod is formed with a lower perpendicular ring portion 39, and spring 32 on the rod is confined by ring 36 below and ends 34 of legs 36 of hooks 38 secured to the ends 34 so that the disk and the sifter are normally pulled down to the position of Figs. 1 and 2.
A brace frame consists of legs 40 secured by loops 42 to ring 2 and U-supports 44 with connecting links 46 positioned above and locating the ring 30.

Having thus fully described my invention what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent is:
1. A sifter adapted for use in cigarettes receptacles containing sand and adapted to be submerged in the sand comprising a body made of mesh screen formed from a plurality of spherical shaped portions and a plurality of pyramidial shaped portions, hinged to said first mentioned portions to form a unit, with the last portions located within said first portions and extending upwardly at an angle from the bottom edges of said first portions, and securing frame wires for the portions of the mesh screen body, an apertured disk connecting the upper edges of the pyramidial portions, a guide rod in the aperture, and manually actuated means for elevating the portions of the mesh screen body relative to the frame to sift the sand and separate trash.

A sifter adapted for use in cigarettes receptacles containing sand and adapted to be submerged in the sand comprising a body made of mesh screen formed from a plurality of spherical shaped portions and a plurality of pyramidial shaped portions, hinged to said first mentioned portions to form a unit, with the last portions located within said first portions and extending upwardly at an angle from the bottom edges of said first portions, and securing frame wires for the portions of the mesh screen body, an apertured disk connecting the upper edges of the pyramidial portions, a guide rod in the aperture, and manually actuated spring retracted means for elevating the portions of the mesh screen body relative to the frame to sift the sand and separate trash.
3. A sifter adapted for use in cigarettes receptacles containing sand and adapted to be submerged in the sand comprising a body made of mesh screen formed from a plurality of spherical shaped portions and a plurality of pyramidial shaped portions, hinged to said first mentioned portions to form a unit, with the last portions located within said first portions and extending upwardly at an angle from the bottom edges of said first portions, and securing frame wires for the portions of the mesh screen body, an apertured disk connecting the upper edges of the pyramidial portions, a guide rod in the aperture, and manually actuated means on the guide rod for elevatin the portions of the mesh screen body relative to the frame to sift the sand and separate trash.
4. A sifter adapted for use in cigarettes receptacles containing sand and adapted to be submerged in the sand comprising a body made of mesh screen formed from a plurality of spherical shaped portions and a. plurality of pyramidial shaped portions, hinged to said first mentioned portions to form a unit, with the last portions located within said first portions and extending u wardly at an angle from the bottom edges of s id first portions, and securing frame wires for t e portions of the mesh screen body, an apert red disk connecting the upper edges of the pyramidial portions, a guide rod in the aperture, and manually actuated means slidable on the guide rod for elevating the portions of the mesh screen body relative to the frame to sift the sand and separate trash.

A sifter adapted for use in cigarettes receptacles containing sand and adapted to be submerged in the sand comprising a body made of 4 mesh screen formed from a plurality of spherical shaped portions and a plurality of pyramidial shaped portions, hinged to said first mentioned portions to form a unit, with the last portions located within said first portions and extending upwardly at an angle from the bottom edges of said first portions, and securing frame wires for the portions of the mesh screen body, an apertured disk connecting the upper edges of the pyramidial portions, a guide rod in the aperture, and manually actuated spring retracted means slidable on the guide rod for elevating the portions of the mesh screen body relative to the frame to sift the sand and separate trash.
