Description

K. HAYES July 12, 1949.
BRASSIERE Filed Dec. 28, 1945 Patented July 12, 1949 Q 23475393- I BRASSIEIt- E,
Kathleen Hayes, Montreallquellec, Canada ApplicatiomDecembcr 28, 19315,.SetialaNo; 637563?!" 3 Claims.
The present invention pertains to a novel ,bras siere tozbe worn by ladies. The =principal.. object of the invention is to provide a. brassiere. that impartathe. desired form to thebreasts.- irl a hygieniczand-efiective manner., With thlsobl'ect. in. view the. device includes a belt and a. pair. of; shoulder straps, with inverted V-shaped' straps connecting the forward ends of the shoulder straps to the front of the belt. These straps consist of an elastic material for the purpose of confining the fiesh within the desired limits as defined by the inverted V-shaped straps. When the device is properly fitted, there is no injury or discomfort to the wearer.
One of the characteristic features of the invention is that the V-shaped straps need not be covered by the usual pocket-forming fabric. As a result, a natural contour is provided, while the figure is shaped and confined within the desired limits, as above set forth.
Moreover, in cases of under-development of the bust, the flesh is massaged by contact with the adjacent garment, whereby growth of the breasts is stimulated. Also, the friction and massaging action produced by the elastic material forming triangular enclosures also stimulates the development of glands and tissue, with visible results in one or two months.
The invention is fully disclosed by way of example in the following description and in the accompanying drawings in which:
Figure 1 is a perspective view illustrating the device in use and particularly the forward side thereof;
Figure 2 is a perspective view illustrating the side and rear of the device, and,
Figure 3 is a perspective View of the device detached.
Reference to these views will now be made by use of like characters which are employed to designate corresponding parts throughout.
In the several figures the device is shown as including a belt I consisting of an elastic strap and adapted to be worn in the position normally occupied by the upper end of a girdle 2. A pair of shoulder straps 3 have their rear ends attached to the back of the belt and preferably at equal distances from the rear center point. The forward ends of the straps 3 are not directly attached to the belt I. To the forward or free end of each strap 3 is attached the vertex of an inverted V-shaped strap 4. The straps 3 and 4 consist of elastic material such as the belt I.
The ends of the straps 4 more remote from the front center of the belt I are attached to the sides attached the remainingdower endsof. the straps 4;.asindicated by. thenumerall. From thefront center of the'belt l is suspended'a strap 8 adapted for attachment to the girdle or to another garment in order to locate the front of the belt in the proper downward position.
The triangular areas within the straps 4 are not covered with the pockets usually provided in this location. The straps, being elastic, confine the breasts within the desired and natural limits. Thus, the flabby and unkempt appearance of flesh extruded outside of these limits is avoided. At the same time, the desired, natural feminine form is maintained.
The device of the invention is also a remedy for under-development of the bust. Since the flesh is free within the V-shaped straps 4, the massaging against the adjacent garment stimulates growth. In a month or two the results of this action become visible. Moreover, the triangular areas enclosed in elastic material have a tendency to enlarge the breasts, and in such cases it becomes unnecessary to make use of artificial expedients. The contact of the elastic straps around the triangular areas further stimulates growth of the tissue and glands. It is further to be noted, with regard to cases of under-development, that the empty folds usually occurring in the use of brassieres with pocket coverings, do not appear in the use of the present invention which normally does not employ such pocket material.
The brassiere should be properly adjusted and fitted to each wearer, and in such cases the elastic straps create suflicient friction for the desired support and massaging effect, and without excessive pressure and discomfort to the wearer.
Although a specific embodiment of the invention has been illustrated and described, it will be understood that various alterations in the details of construction may be made without departing from the scope of the invention as indicated by the appended claims.
What I claim as my invention is:
1. A brassiere comprising a hoop-like belt, a pair of shoulder straps each having one end secured to the rear of said belt, and a pair of inverted V-shaped straps having their vertices secured respectively to the free ends of said shoulder straps, the outward ends of said V-shaped straps being attached directly to the sides of said hooplike belt, and the inward ends of said V-shaped straps being connected to the front center of said belt, said belt and straps consisting of elastic material, and an anchoring strap suspended from the front center of said belt, said belt having substantially the same width as said V-shaped straps, the triangular areas formed by said V-shaped straps and said belt being uncovered.
2. A brassiere comprising a hoop-like belt, a pair of shoulder straps each having one end secured to the rear of said belt, and a pair of inverted V-shaped straps having their vertices secured respectively to the free ends of said shoulder straps, the outward ends of said V-shaped straps being attached directly to the sides of said hooplike belt, and a fabric flap attached to the front center of said belt, the inward ends of said V-shaped straps being attached to said flap, said belt and straps consisting of elastic material, and an anchoring strap suspended from the front center of said belt, said belt having substantially the same width as said V-shaped straps, the triangular areas formed by said V-shaped straps and said belt being uncovered.
3. A brassire comprising a belt, a pair of shoulder straps each having one end secured formed by said V-shaped straps and said belt bein uncovered.
