Description

May 31, 1949. M. LONG ELECTRIC RAZOR HOLDER Filed March 6, 1946 INVENTOR. jYa Zrycz/ef by Patented May 31, 1949 UNITED STATES E ATENT OFFICE ELECTRIC RAZOR HOLDER Margaret Long, Baltimore, Md.
Application March 6, 1946, Serial No. 652,307
1 Claim. 1
The invention relates to a razor holder, and more especially to an electric razor holder.
The primary object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character, wherein an electric razor can be bodily slipped into the same when not in use for the holding thereof, without liability of such razor slipping or falling from the same and at all times being in a handy place for service.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character, wherein the construction thereof is novel and unique in the assembly of the same, it being adapted to accommodate the razor and the extension electric cord at its plug-in end or current connector.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character, wherein the razor and adjuncts can be hung from a wall or other vertical support, so that the razor can be acquired with ease and dispatch, the holder being neat in appearance and is of a unitary set-up.
A still further object of the invention is the provision of a holder of this character, which is simple in construction, thoroughly reliable and effective for the purposes thereof, strong, durable, compact, a single piece unit, and inexpensive to manufacture and install.
With these and other objects in view the invention consists in the features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts as will be hereinafter more fully described, illustrated in the accompanying drawing, which discloses the preferred embodiment of the invention, and pointed out in the claim hereunto appended.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a front elevation of the holder constructed in accordance with the invention and showing by dotted lines an electric razor held therein;
Figure 2 is a side view of the same;
Figure 3 is a sectional view taken approximately on the line 3-3 of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows;
Figure 4 is a sectional view taken approximately on the line 4-4 of Figure 2 looking in the direction of the arrows.
Similar reference characters indicate corresponding parts throughout the several views in the drawing.
Referring to the drawing in detail, the holder constituting the present invention, comprises a circular or a flattened substantially half oval shaped body l0, having longitudinally therein a socket like pocket II, which fully opens through the top end l2, the latter constituting an entrance mouth, while the lower open end 13 is of considerably less size than the said mouth, and sumciently small to prevent the plug 29 in the end from dropping if connection to razor is not secure.
The body In medially of its longitudinal extent in its front walling is provided with a substantially V-shaped slot I4 which merges with the open top and bottom ends of the pocket H, the uppermost side edges of the slot l4 being rounded reversely as indicated at i5, and into this pocket is accommodated or seated an electric razor denoted generally at E6, while the slot 14 allows the extension cord I! of this razor to be threaded through the same, to permit the razor to settle in a downward direction into the pocket II for the holding thereof.
The body [6 at the upper portion of the back l8 has formed therewith a horizontally disposed hangar extension [9 having hole for an attaching screw 20 which is accessible through a window 2| provided in the back area of the body I0, and this screw is anchored in a vertical wall or other support a portion being denoted at 22, so that the holder can be hung therefrom. The hanger extension l9 may be of a character to provide a contoured rest 28' for the razor head guard 28 when the razor is extracted from the pocket ll temporarily, and especially when such razor is in use or service.
At a distance below the hanger extension I9 is a shelf formation 23, having in opposite side edges of the same notches or the like 24 and 25 respectively, the former identified notch being adapted to receive the cord H next to its connector plug 26, so that this cord and plug will be suspended by the holder, as best seen in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawing. The other notch 25 is designed for accommodating the cleaner brush, a portion being identified at 21, in Figure 4 of the drawing, thus being handy for service when required in the cleaning of the razor.
What is claimed is:
A device of the character described comprising a body providing a razor receiving pocket and having a front wall provided with a substantially V-shaped slot, an integrally formed horizontally and rearwardly extending support at the upper rear of the body adapted to support a razor head guard while the razor is in use and an integrally formed rearwardly and horizontally extending shelf at the lower end of the body having notches for receiving an electric current supply line to the razor and a cleaning brush for the razor.
