Description
(N0 Mddel.)
P. KOCH;
EXTENSIBLE SHADE BRACKET.
,511. Patented Aug. 9,1881.
ATTORNEY u. Pf-TERL PhMD-Lhhcgraphsr, wishing u c UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
PHILIPP KOCH, OF BROOKLYN, NEW YORK;
EXTENSIBLE SHADE-BRACKET.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 245,511, dated August 9, 1881.
Application filed May 6. 1881. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern:
Be itknown that I, PHILIPP KOCH, of Brooklyn, in the county of Kings and State of New York, have invented certain new and useful improvements in Window-Shade Brackets, of which the following is a specification.
One of the great objections to the present window-shade brackets or supports in general use is that the window-frames are rendered unsightly by the boring of holes at different points of the frames, as successive tenants put up their shades. This objection I intend to obviate by an im proved window-bracket, which is permanently applied to the window-frame by the landlord, and capable of adjustment to any size of shade-roller, dispensing thereby entirely with the attachment ofbrackets by the tenants, and facilitating the putting up of the shades to a considerable extent.
The invention consists of a window-bracket which is provided with a shank extending at right angles therefrom and guided in a recessed plate attached permanently to the windowframe, said guide-plate having asst-screw for clamping the shank of the bracket, one of the brackets being supplied with a recessed pivot-hook to be brought down over the flattened ends of the shaftsot' spring-rollers when such are used, so as to lock them tothe brackets.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure 1 represents a front elevation of my improved window-shade bracket; and Figs. 2 and 3 are respectively a horizontal and a vertical transverse section of the same on lines :0 w and g y, Fig. 1.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A in the drawings represents a windowshade bracket, which is preferably made in one piece with its shank B, that extends at rightangles therefrom. The shank B is guided by a recessed or slotted guide-plate, O, which is permanently attached to the window-frame near the upper.corner of the same, one bracket 5 brackets may be used for common shade-rollers or for spring-rollers, as the case may be, they being readily adjusted by each tenant to the required size of his rollers, without requiring the attaching or removal of brackets for his special size of shade rollers.
Having thus described myinventioml claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent- As an improvement in window-shade fixtures, the combination of a recessed guideplate adapted to be attached permanently to the window-frame, an adjustable bracket provided with a shank extending at right angles therefrom adapted to tit and slide in said plate, a set-screw for holding the bracket, and the pivoted hook attached to said bracket and adapted to be thrown over the flattened end pivot ot' a spring-roller, substantially as described.
In testimony that I claim the foregoing as my invention I have signed my name, in presence of two witnesses, this 2d day of May,
PHILIPP KOCH. Witnesses:
PAUL GoEPEL, CARL KARP.
