achin The main objects of this inventionare:

First, to provide .a brush .holder for paint brushes and the like with which thebrush may bequi-ckly engaged and disengaged-and at the same time one which is effiective in supporting the brush.

In the embodiment of the invention illustrated, the suspending hook or hanger designated generally by the numeral I is formed of a length of wire folded upon itself and bent to provide a downwardly facing hook 2 and depending hanger arms 3, 3. The lower ends of the arms are turned outwardly at 4 to engage the wall of the contrainer and therefore support the hanger arms 3 in spaced relation to the wall of the container. The arms 3 are springable.

I have illustrated and described my invention in highly practical embodiments thereof. I have not attempted to illustrate or describe certain embodiments or adaptations which I contemplate as it is believed that this disclosure will enable those skilled in the art to embody or adapt my invention as may be desired.

Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is:

1. A holder for brushes and the like comprising a suspend-ing hook having laterally spaced depending springable arms, and a jaw member formed to provide an upper loop and laterally spaced lower loops, the jaw member being extended upwardly and thence forwardly to provide a ooacting. pair of springable jaws, the straight reaches of both spring-able arms of said suspending hook being disposed through said upper loop, said arms being disposed individually in 3 the lower loops, said arms springably and frictionally engaging the edges of said loops and coacting to provide adjustable clutch engagement with the jaw member.

2. A holder for brushes and the like comprising a suspending hook having laterally spaced depending springable arms with straight center reaches, and a jaw member formed to provide a single loop and a laterally spaced pair of loops spaced vertically from said single loop, said jaw member being extended upwardly and thence forwardly to provide a coasting pair of springable jaws, the straight reaches of both springable arms of said suspending hook being disposed through said single loop, said arms being disposed individually in said pair of loops, said arms springably and frictionally engaging the edges of said loops and coacting to provide adjustable clutch engagement with the jaw member.

A holder for brushes and the like eompris ing a suspending hook having laterally spaced depending springable arms with straight center reaches having out-turned lower ends adapted to engage the inner side of a container when the hook is engaged over the rim thereof, and a jaw member formed of a length of wire folded to provide an upper loop and depending arms terminating in lower loops, the outer arms of the lower loops being extended upwardly and terminating in a coasting pair of springable jaws, the springable arms of said suspending hook being disposed through said upper loop, the lower loops being disposed between said arms, said loops springably and frictionally engaging saidarms and coacting to provide adjustable clutch engagement with the arms.

A holder for brushes and-the like comprising a suspending hook having laterally spaced depending springable arms, and a jaw member formed of a length of wire folded to provide an upper loop and depending arms terminating in lower loops, the outer arms of the lower loops being extended upwardly and terminating in a coacting pair of springable jaws, the springable arms of said suspending hook being disposed through said upper loop, the lower loops being disposed between said arms, said loops springably and frictionally engaging said arms and meeting to provide adjustable clutch engagement with the arms.

A holder for paint brushes and the like comprising a hanger, and a jaw member formed integrally of a length of wire folded to provide an upper hanger engaging loop and depending arms terminating in lower hanger engaging loops, the outer arms of the lower loops being extended forwardly and terminating in coasting jaws, said loops springably and frictionally engaging said hanger and coacting to provide adjustable clutch engagement therewith.

6. A holder for brushes and the like comprising a hanger, and a jaw member formed of a length of wire folded and conformed to provide a hanger embracing loop with arms terminating in individual springable hanger engaging members, said wire extended from said individual hanger engaging members to provide springable arms, the arms terminating in brush receiving Jaws.

A brush holder comprising a hanger having a suspending hook adapted to engage the rim of a container and a jaw member formed of a length of wire folded and bent to provide an upper loop receiving the hanger and depending arms terminating in lower loops springably engaging the hanger, the outer arms of the lower loops being extended upwardly and terminating in coacting brush engaging jaws.

8. A holder for brushes and the like comprising a hanger having depending laterally spaced springable arms, and a jaw member formed of wire folded and conformed to provide a loop disposed around said arms and with the ends of said wire extending between said arms and forming brush receiving jaws on the opposite side of said arms from the closed end of said loop.

9. A holder for brushes and the like comprising a. hanger having depending laterally spaced arms, and a jaw member formed of wire folded and conformed to provide a loop disposed around said arms and with the ends of said wire extending between said arms and having portions overlapping said arms on the same side thereof as the closed end of said loop and being further extended to form brush engaging jaws.
