(NoModelJ- GJNIPIBROE & M. BERNHARD. Toy FURNITURE. No. 244,658. v Patented July 19, 1881.
I ine y fimvzwa WITNESSES:
INVENTOR s,
UNITED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
SAID BERNHARD ASSIGNOR TO SAID PIERCE.
TOY FURNITURE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 244,658, dated July 19, 1881.
Application filed December 15,1880. (No model.)
To all whom it may concern.-
Be it known that we, GEORGE N. PrERcE and MICHAEL BERNHARD, both of Buffalo, county of Erie, and State of New York, have made certain Improvements in Toy Furniture, of which the following is a specification.
This invention relates more particularly to for bureaus, dressing-cases, 850., the object of frames for lookin g-glasses used in toy furniture the invention being to cheapen the cost by reducing the number of pieces used and labor in making them, and at the same time present a handsomer article than before; and the invention consists in its constructiomas hereinafter specified.
In the drawings, Figure l is a front elevation of the looking-glass frame detached from the bureau; and Fig. 2 is an edge view or side, partly in section, showing the construction of the frame,.&c. A represents the frame proper, made of a single piece sawed out in the middle for the glass, and which is fastened onto the-back, as is usual.
B is the base-piece for the frame, and which is attached to it by merely making a groove, a, to correspond to the thickness of the frame,
and which is then set in and glued thereon,
making it immovable. The base is fastened to the bureau, &c., in the usual manner by pins or otherwise. 7
On the top of the frame A is a piece ofmoldin g, 0, which is attached to the frame by having a straight groove, 12, cut in the under side, the top of the frame A setting in said groove b. Another groove, b is made on the upper side of the molding, and an ornamental top piece, D, set thereon and glued in, as shown .of construction, which is four pieces of molding for the frame, with outside pieces glued on, then a base-piece set on flat and glued on, then two or more separate top pieces glued on flat, all liable to break off easily. By reduo ing ours to three partsviz., the frame, of a single piece, the bottom and top pieces-and setting the frame in grooves, a simpler and stronger as well as cheaper construction is had.
We claim' The construction of looking-glass frames for toy bureaus, dressing-cases, &c., consisting of the frame proper, A, made in one piece, the base-piece B with the groove a, the bottom of the frame A setting therein, the top piece, 0, with the groove 1), in which the top of the frame A sets, and with or without the groove b, and ornainental top D, all substantially as and for the purpose specified.
In witness whereof we have hereunto signed our names in the presence of two subscribing witnesses.

MICHAEL BERNHARD. .Witnesses:
