Description

F. MAJER July 20, 1948.
HAIR CUTTING MACHINE WITH ADJUSTABLE CUT REGULATOR Filed March 26 1945 Patented -luly 20, 1948 HAIRCUTTIN G MACHINE WITH ADJUST- A'BLE CUT REGULATOR Ferdinand Majer, Zurich, Switzerland, assignor toHans Major, Zurich, Switzerland Application March 26, 1945, Serial No. 584,888
' In Switzerland April 18, 1944 ll-Claims. (01. 30-201) This invention. relates to an electrically driven hair cutting machine with adjustable cut regulater in which, according to the invention, the movable cuttin comb is displaceable in the lon gitudinal direction of the combteeth, thereby to permit of adjusting the 'machine to various lengths in which the hair is to be out.
In order to render the above-mentioned adjustment effective over a relatively great range the stationary cutting comb is' advantageously provided on two oppositely-disposed portions with comb teeth which-have different tooth lengths and can be turned relativeto the movable comb for the purpose of providing for its comb teeth on one or the other portion to cooperate with the movable cutting comb.
An exemplification of the hair cutting machine according to the present invention is illustrated in the accompanying drawings of which Fig. 1 shows a side elevation of the cutting head;
Fig. 2 shows an end elevation of the machine;
Fig. 3 is a view of the cutting head similar to Fig. 1 with the stationary cutting comb omitted;
Fig. 4 shows a section on the line IV-IV in Fi 3;
Fig. 5 shows the driving arrangement for the movable cutting comb, and
Fig. 6 shows a section on the line VIVI in Fig. 1.
Referring to the drawings the numeral I designates the casing and 2 denotes the cutting head of the machine. Driving motion is imparted from a motor (not shown) to the movable cutting comb 3 via a shaft 4, a worm 5, a worm wheel 6, levers l and 8 and a rocking lever 9 one end Of which engages with a slide block ID in a recess of the latter. A stationary cutting comb II is provided on two opposite end portions with comb teeth [2 and I3.
This stationary cuttin comb II can be turned about a bolt l4 so that, dependent upon choice, the comb teeth 12 and I3 can respectively be moved into position for cooperation with the movable comb 3. The bolt M is screwed into a plate l5 which is provided with a recess I 6 (Fig. 3) into which projects one end I! of a two-armed lever I8 whereas the other pin like end IQ of this lever 18 interengages with the forked end 20 of a hand operated lever 22 which pivots on a fulcrum 21.
By turning the hand operated lever 22 the stationary cutting comb H is shifted in the longitudinal direction of the comb teeth, thereby to adjust the length in which the hair is to be cut,
which depends upon the stretch a (Fig. 4) for which the end of the base of the teeth of the stationary comb projects beyond the end of the tooth base of the movable comb, for the reason that the distance bof the tooth surface bearing on the'portionof the scalp where the cutting occurs to the place of actual cutting is accordingly varied.
The stationary comb ii is guided in a lid: 24 which is pivoted to the casing I at 23 and the side walls 25 of which overlap the sidesof the comb It. By swinging the lid 24 upwardlythe stationary cutting comb H is left. free so as. to allow of being rotated through an angular range of about the bolt It for cooperation of its comb teeth 12 or E3, as the case may be, with the teeth of the movable comb 3. The lengths of the comb teeth l2 and I3 differ from each other so that by varying the tooth length and readjusting the stationary comb considerable variation of the length in which the hair is to be cut ensues.
The actuating lever B is provided with a longitudinal slot 8' and a cross slot 8". By shifting the connecting means between the levers l and 8 longitudinally of the slot 8 the length of traverse of the movable comb can be varied and by shifting the connecting means between the lever B and the rocking lever 9 along the cross slot 8" the place of traversin of the movable comb can be shifted to the left or right hand side. By this means the most desirable cutting effect can be obtained.
