The present invention relates to new and useful improvements in supports for the nozzle of a garden hose whereby the nozzle may be supported in an elevated position in a manner for spraying a lawn without necessitating the holding of the nozzle by the hand of a person.

An important object of the invention is to provide a supporting device of this character embodying means whereby the nozzle may be vertically adjusted.

A further object of the invention is to provide a foldable support of this character by means of which the same may be stored in a compact form.

A still further object is to provide a device of this character of simple and practical construction, which is neat and attractive in appearance, eficient and reliable in use and otherwise well adapted for the purposes for which the same is intended.

Other objects and advantages reside in the details of construction and operation as more fully hereinafter described and claimed, reference being had to the accompanying drawings forming part hereof, wherein like numerals refer to like parts throughout, and in which:

Figure 1 is a top plan view showing the legs of the device in folded position.

Figure 2 is a side elevational view thereof.

Figure 3 is a side elevational view showing the device in raised position, and

Figure 4 is a rear elevational view thereof.

Referring now to the drawings in detail where in for the purpose of illustration I have disclosed a preferred embodiment of the invention, the numeral 5 designates an elongated fiat supporting member preferably comprising a wooden board or constructed from any other suitable material, an opening 6 being formed transversely of the board adjacent one end and in which the bight portion 1 of a U-shaped prop 8 is pivotally mounted, the prop 8 including a pair of legs 9 positioned at opposite sides of the board 5.

A relatively short prop 10 of similar construction is likewise pivotal-1y mounted at the other end of the board 5, the prop 8 constituting a front prop while the prop I ll constitutes a rear P P.

To the upper surface of the board 5 is secured one or more spring clips H by means of which a garden hose [2 is clipped to the upper surface of the board 5 and removably secured in position thereon. One of the clips H is positioned adjacent the front end of the board in a manner for supporting the nozzle [3 projecting forwardly of the front end of the board.

In the operation of the device the board 5 is supported in a suitably inclined position by the front prop 3 and rear prop in having their legs embedded in the ground in the manner as illustrated in Figure 3 of the drawings and the hose I2 is secured in position in the clips ll so that the nozzle will be supported in an elevated position for spraying the lawn or garden. The nozzle I3 may be adjusted without removing the hose from the clips I i When the support is not in use, the legs of the front prop 8 and rear prop H! are swung into a position longitudinally at the side edges of the board 5 in a manner as illustrated in Figures 1 and 2 of the drawings and the device thus stored in a compact form.

In view of the foregoing description taken in conjunction with the accompanying drawings it is believed that a clear understanding of the construction, operation and advantages of the device will be quite apparent to those skilled in this art. A more detailed description is accordingly deemed unnecessary.

It is to be understood, however, that even though there is herein shown and described a preferred embodiment of the invention the same is susceptible to certain changes fully comprehended by the spirit of the invention as herein described and the scope of the appended claim.

What is claimed is:

A garden hose support comprising an elongated member, means carried by the member for attaching a garden hose thereto and U-shaped props pivotally attached at the front and rear ends of the member, said front prop embodying substantially long legs and said rear prop embodying substantially short legs adapted for embedding in the ground to support the member in an upward-1y inclined position, all of said legs being movable into a position longitudinally at the opposite sides of the member when not in use for compact storage purposes.
