This invention relates to means and ways of supporting a plurality of garment hangers which are readily available at one end of the supporting means by a simple operation. When the hangers are distributed along the supporting means and not in a convenient position for handling, the hangers are latched so that they will not shift along th'e supporting means. By this arrangement of garment hangers, garments 4can be transported in safety and Without danger of one garment mussing or crowding its neighboring garments. f

The supporting means is generally an elongated beam, rod or tube provided with a plurality of radially notched portions neatly spaced along the beam, the notched portions being along the topl surface of the beam, but the beam is so mounted that it can be easily rotated about a quarter turn so that the notched portions are no longer at the top, th'us making it easy to slide the garment hangers to one end of the beam unhampered by the notches. When the notched portions are at the top position, the hook part of the hangers will readily fall into the notched portions and remain there until the tube is rotated.

Bracket means are provided for supporting th'e beam from either the ceiling of a vehicle or chamber or from a side wall thereof, the bracket means allowing the tube to be easily rotated, but also includes means to prevent the beam from moving vertically and hence prevent hangers from being displaced from their respective hangers.

One of the principalobjects of this invention is to presenta new and novel means for supporting a large number of garment hangers and the like which' are latched and positioned in spaced relationship, but with means being combined therewith so that the hangers can be unlatched from their positions and gathered to one end of the supporting means by a simple manual operation.

Another obj ect is to provide an elongated means for supporting a plurality of garment hangers which is simple and sturdy in construction, easy to install and maintain, and which is economical to make and manufacture.

Other objects, advantages and features of our invention will appear from the accompanying drawings, the subjoined detailed description, the preamble of these specifications and the appended claims.

Applicants are about to illustrate and describe one of the forms of their-invention in order to teach one how to make and use the same, but it is to be understood that the drawings and de- 2 scription thereof are not to limit the invention in any sense whatsoever, except as limited by th'e appended claims.

One adaptation of the invention would be to apply it to Ia delivery type of truck as partially illustrated in Fig, l of the drawings wherein the top thereof is indicated by the refer-ence numeral I, the ceiling thereof by 2, one side wall thereof by 3, the front wall or bulkhead by 4 and the rear door or doors by 5. The elongated beam means 6 is shown for supporting a plurality of garment hangers 1 which may be ofthe wire type or any other suitable type, -The elongated beam means 6 is shown as a pipe or tube, but it is to be understood that any other suitable means may be employed, such as for instance, may be 'a hollow beam with a rectangular cross-section.

At the rear end of the pipe 6, it is preferably supported by the bracket shown in Fig. 2. This bracket is indicated in general by th'e numeral 8. The front end of the pipe is supported by the bracket 9. The bracket 9 may be supported from the front wall 4, if desired, by utilizing the flanged portion I0 thereof, or supported from the ceiling by utilizing the `double lobed means II. This bracket has the female threaded part I2 that adjustably -supports the nipple I3, the lower end of the nipple being screwed into th'e female threaded boss I4 that supports the flanged portion Ill and also a short tube I5 which is adapted to telescope the forward end of the pipe 5, as shown. This end of th'e pipe has a slot I6 which accommodates the shank of a screw or stud Il that is set in th'e threaded bore I8 of the short tube I5. The purpose of this slot and stud is to limit the rotation of the pipe 6, that is, limit its rotation to a quarter turn, or to a half turn if desired.

The other bracket 8 has the double lobed top I9, which is similar to I I, that can be attached by screws or bolts to any part of the truck. This bracket has the female threaded part from which depends a nipple 2| that engages the female threaded boss 22 from which extends the saddle 23 which is curved to neatly support the pipe 6, as shown, but, nevertheless, allow garment hangers to pass to the very end of the pipe. When a bracket, as this, is employed at the rear end of the pipe6; it is.- providedwithfanadjustable-protruded element or arm24 whichhas the sleeve 25' that freely slides `along the nipple 2l, and
