To all whom it may concern:

Be it known that I, ZEBULON B. BELLOWS, of Cortlandville, in the county of Cortland, in the State of Newv York, have invented an Improved Mode of Seating Chairs; and I do hereby declare that the following is a tull and exact description of the said invention.

The nature of niy invention consists in providing bent, stamped or pressed seats for chairs, of any or all kinds or qualities, niade of boards or plank, so that the forni or shape of the seat will tit and conform to the shape of the person who shall occupy the chair.

To enable others to inake and use 1ny invention, I Will describe the construction and operation ot my chair seat.

First I take the boards and saw theni to the required length for a single seat. I then boil or steam theni, then pnty theni into a niold and apply the power of a press sutlicient to torni tliein in a concave forni and of the desired shape. The lnold niay be constructed of Wood or iron.

That I claim as niy invention and desire to secure by Letters Patent is- The application to chairs of a bent, stamped or pressed board for a seat.
