My invention is directed to a novel sanitary pack of novel disposable sanitary toilet seat covers adapted to be placed or loaded into a suitable container or dispenser.

The purpose of my invention is to provide a novel sanitary pack of individually removable disposable paper seat covers that is compact and of relatively small size; which is easily mountable in a receptacle or dispenser; which is so constructed that the individual covers of the contained pack may be successively and individually projectable and withdrawable in such a manner that as each paper cover is gripped, it will unfold itself from a transversely creased folded position to immediately be placed and rest substantially at upon the conventional seat.

A further object of my invention is the provision of novel paper seat covers, each of which has an extension at one end, which is provided with a, plurality of aligned slits which defines a central portion adapted to be partially torn away, and which includes a plurality of integral slitdefined connectable portions or segments through which staples or other suitable fastening elements are passed to mount or connect a pack of such blanks together and also to a suitable backing sheet.

A further object of my invention is to provide a sanitary disposable pack of paper seat covers which are transversely creased and which are detachably connected to a suitable backing sheet, said seat covers being provided with a plurality of spaced apart slits which define the portions through which fastening elements are passed and from which portions each paper cover is torn away upon withdrawal of each cover, the portion of the blank defined by said respective slits and connected by the fastening elements remaining on the backing strip and connected together.

Other and further important objects of my invention Will be apparent from the following descriptions, drawing and claims.

This invention (in a preferred form) is illustrated and described in the following specification and claims.

Referring to Figs. 1 and 2,v reference numeral 33 designates a substantially flat reinforcing or backing strip which extends a little more than half-way to the lower edge thereof. This backing strip 33 is provided with a pair of spaced apart apertures 34 which are adapted to hook upon inwardly projecting hooks which are provided in desired positions in a dispenser or the like in order to mount lthe pack in suspended vertically extending position.

A plurality of substantially thin sheets of suitable paper are suitably die cut into the form illustrated in Fig. 3, the respective spaced apart slits 35 and 35a beingcut to form oppositely extending segments, extensions or tongues 35h along the lateral side edges. An important feature of my invention is the provision of this novel paper blank which has said slits 35 and 35a. suitably die out at a point adjacent to the transverse crease 36, thereby forming the said laterally extending tongues or extensions 35h.

A further important feature of my invention is the provision of a central portion of each blank which is defined by a plurality of die cut slits, substantially in the shape of a rectangle, though having two corners thereof curved. This central portion, which is designated by reference numeral 38, is formed and dened by a substantially U-shaped slit 44, and by two spaced apart curved slits 38a. and 38o. The spaced apart ends of the curved slits 38a and 38h are separated from the respective adjacent ends of the U- shaped slit '44 by a relatively short integral portion of the paper blank, the limits of one of which connecting integral blank portions are dened by a pair of transversely extending slits 4l and 42 which arer spaced apart, as indicated in Fig. 3. The spaced apart ends of the other curved slit 38a and the other end of slit 44 are likewise separated by a connecting'integral portion, as shown, which 'is bounded by. the two spaced apart transversely extending slits' Ma' and 42a. The two aforesaid connectingV portions between slits 4l and 42 and betweenllla and 42a hold and connect the `central portion 38 in the same plane with the main blank until the tearing away operation, as is herein described. The integral portion of the blank between the lower curved slits 38a. and 38h also connectsaid central portion and the vmain portion of the blank.

The main paper blanks arev also cut so that they have an integral downwardly extending grippable extension or tongue 39 and at the opposite or upper edge (as shown in Fig. 3), are cut with a relatively wide recess 40. During the operation of forming the blank, the blanks are also creased transversely along and substantially midway between the opposite ends to form the transverse crease 36. In the formation of a pack, the blanks are rst placed flat one on top of the other, one pack consisting of a suitable number of blanks, and each such pack is secured to the backing strip 33, rstly by means of wire staples 45 which pass through the respective tongues 35D and through the backing strip.

The blanks are further connected to the backing strip 33 by passing staples 4l and 48 through the two integral connecting portions which lie between slits 4I, 42 and slits 41a, and 42a. The entire pack of superposed secured together paper blanks or covers are then folded upon the crease SS to the position illustrated in Fig. l, Fig. 1 showing the back side of the pack. In the folded position of the pack, the integral extension 39 hangs below the lower edge of the other half of the blank and below the lower edge defining the recess 40, the innermost paper blank of the pack or group being the one which is exposed for either convenient manual gripping or for the frictional engagement of suitable engaging members of a manually operable projection means (not shown). When spring mounted means (not shown) are employed which may carry friction members, such spring means may be manually pressed inwardly and downwardly to cause the engaging or friction members to pull the innermost paper seat cover of the pack downwardly to thereby project the integral extension 39 below the lowermost parts of the pack of sheets from whence it is conveniently gripped and withdrawn by the hand.

When the'operator grips the projected lower end of the innermost blank which has been partially lowered, as has been described, the downward manual pull of the blank causes a tearing of the Ablank substantially between the inner ends of the respective slits 35 and 35d, the portions which formerly comprised the tongues 45h remaining fastened under the staples which secure the same to the backing strip.

As the blank is further withdrawn by downward pull, the integral connecting portions between the slits 4l and 42 and between slits 4la and 42a are torn along paths extending from one to the other of each of said pairs of slits, thereby leaving a small portion of each blank secured under the staple, though at the same time tearing the said connections betweenthe central portion 38 and the main blank, whereupon the central portion 381 will fall out of the plane of the blank and be suspended downwardly when the paper seat cover is placed upon a seat, the .only remaining connection of said central portion 38 being at the end thereof between the curved slits 38a and 3817.

I desire it to be'understood that my aforedescribed novel seat cover pad may also be suspended lor mounted in and used in cooperation withvarying receptacles, containers or dispensers provided with bottom and other openings which permit operation and functioning as has been described.

Various changes may be made in the embodiment of the invention herein specifically described without departing from or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention or any fea.-- tures thereof, and nothing herein shall be construed as limitations upon the invention, its concept or structural embodiment as to the whole or any part thereof except as defined in the appended claims.

I claim:

1. A sanitary paper pack of disposable toilet seat covers comprising an apertured disposable supporting backing; a plurality of separable superposed sheets, said sheets overlying and straddling each other and being folded transversely so that the lower edge of the innermost sheet is exposed for gripping engagement, each of said sheets having a plurality of slits defining a central tearable portion thereof adapted to depend from the main body of the sheet when torn from the pack; and staples extending through said sheets and said backing at points substantially between the spaced ends of said slits and connecting said sheets and said supporting backing; the pulling away of the innermost of said transversely folded nested sheets being adapted to form tears joining the ends of said slits to permit said central slit-deflned portion to depend from the main body of the cover.

2. A sanitary disposable blank pack unit comprising a disposable relatively stiff backing; a pack consisting of a plurality of disposable sanitary sheets dened by opposite end edges and by side or lateral edges; said pack being formed by laying the flat sheets one upon the other, said pack being folded transversely substantially midway between its opposite ends, said blanks having spaced apart slits intersecting each lateral edge defining a pair of integral tongues on said lateral edges respectively, and fastening connectors connecting said tongues and said backing.

A sanitary disposal blank pack unit coinprising a disposal relatively stiff backing; a packconsisting of a plurality of disposable sanitary sheets formed by laying the flat sheets one upon the other, said pack being folded transverselyr substantially near its transverse center line and between its opposite ends, said blanks having a pair of spaced apart slits intersecting each lateral edge and defining a pair of integral tongues, each of said blanks having a U-shaped slit and aligned curved slits therein defining a central suspendable portion, the ends of said U-shaped slit and ends of said curved slits being spaced apart; each of said blanks having transverse intersectingr slits at the ends of said U-shaped slit and at the ends of said curved slits, and fastening means connecting the blank areas between said transverse intersecting slits to said backing.

In a pack of disposable paper seat covers, a discardable backing, and a plurality of superposed sheets having one end of approximately rectangular form, and said superposed sheets being folded along a transverse line substantially midway between the opposite ends of said sheets, each of said sheets having a pair of slits at each side edge defining a relatively narrow tongue and having a plurality of curved slits whose adjoining ends are spaced apart and which denne a central suspendable portion, said blank having also relatively short slits therein at the spaced apart termini of said curved slits, and means connecting said tongues and the blank areas between said curved slits to said backing.

In a pack of disposable toilet Seat covers, a plurality of paper covers, each cover superposed at upon the other covers and the pack of covers being folded. along a transverse line and positioned so that the covers are in nested relation; each paper blank forming a cover being of substantially rectangular outline having an integral grippable extension at one end and being creased from one side edge to the other; each of said side edges having a pair of spaced apart slits intersecting the blank edges and partially defining an integral tongue; a central suspendable integral blank portion adapted to depend downwardly when said blank is placed on a toilet seat and dened by curved spaced slits which form an annular path, said blank having therein pairs of transversely extending slits at the ends of said curved slits and intersecting said curved slits; and connecting means for connecting said edge tongues together.

A pack unit of sanitary disposable toilet seat covers, each cover being superposed over and in nested relation to the underlying covers, each cover comprising a flexible paper blank of substantially rectangular outline having an integral grippable extension at one end and creased transversely from one side edge to the other side edge and crosswise of the grain of the paper, each of said side edges having a pair of spaced apart slits defining an integral tongue; a central suspendable integral blank portion adapted to depend downwardly when said blank is placed on a toilet seat and defined by curved spaced slits which form an annular path, said blank having a pair of transverse slits therein and substantially at the ends of said curved slits and extending in directions to intersect said curved slits respectively; and securing elements for connecting said integral tongues together and securing said blanks together at points adjacent the ends of said curved spaced slits.

In a pack unit of disposable seat covers comprising a relatively stiff backing blank, a plurality of superposed nested paper blanks creased and folded along a transversely extending line and crosswise of the paper grain, each blank overlying and depending over the blank beneath it, one end portion of each blank depending lower than the other edge thereof, each blank having spaced apart slits at its opposite side edges, and fastening members connecting said backing strip and the blank portions between said side slits together; the pulling away of the innermost blank being adapted to tear the blank away from said fastened portions between said slits.

8. In a pack unit of disposable seat covers comprising a relatively stiff backing blank, a plurality of paper blanks creased and folded along a transversely extending line, each blank overlying the blank beneath it, a part or all of one end of each blank extending below the folded down opposite end portion thereof, each blank having spaced apart slits at its opposite side edges; fastening members connecting said backing strip and the blank portions between said side slits, the annular central portion of said blank being partially slit along a curved path, said blank having transverse slits at the ends of said central portion slits, and fastening elements passing through said blanks adjacent to said transverse slits and connecting same to said backing blank; the pulling away of the innermost blank being adapted to tear the blank from said fastening elements.

9. In a pack of paper seat covers; a plurality of covers first superposed one upon the other and thence bent along a substantially middle transverse line into nested relation, each of said covers having a plurality of curved slits whose ends are spaced apart and substantially defining a central partially tearable portion of the cover, each of said covers having transverse shorter slits at the ends of and intersecting said spaced apart ends of said curved slits; a reinforcing backing strip; and fastening elements passing through the said covers substantially adjacent the ends of said spaced apart curved slits thereof and securing said covers together and to said backing strip, the innermost cover being withdrawable without disturbing the remainder thereof. y
