This invention relates to a curtain stretcher and has for an object to provide a stretcher, all of the stretching members of which are flush thereby permitting the curtain being stretched to be secured for the full length of eachside and at all corners, on the pins.

A further object is to provide apparatus of this character which will be formed of a few strong, simple and durable parts, which will be inexpensive to manufacture, and which will not easily get out of order.

With the above and other objects in view the invention consists of certain novel details of construction and combinations of parts hereinafter fully describedand claimed, it being understood that various modifications may be resorted to within the scope of the appended claims without departing from the spirit or sacrificing any of the advantages of the invention.

Figure 1 is a front elevation of a curtain stretcher constructed in accordance with the invention.

Figure 6 is a detail perspective view of the left end of the upper frame bar of the stretcher.

Referring now to the drawing in which like characters of reference designate similar parts in the various views, the curtain stretcher frame comprises vertical frame bars in and l I and horizontal frame bars [2 and i3. Prop bars l4 and i5 are hinged at the upper ends to the vertical frame bars by respective hinges l6 and I1.

The horizontal frame bars I2 and [3 are equipped at the right ends respectively with hooked brackets l8 which slidably receive the adjacent vertical frame bar It). Set screws l9 are engaged through the brackets to removably secure the horizontal frame bars 12 and [3 to the vertical bar In, which later is received in the hook of the brackets and is confined by the hook against the end edges of the upper and lower horizontal frame members l2 and I3. The left ends of the horizontal frame members l2 and I3 are equipped with substantially Z-shaped brackets 23, secured to the rear faces of the bars, see Figure 6, and removably secured to the left vertical frame bar If by bolts 2| and wing nuts 22, see Figure 4.

The adjustable stretching bars of the stretcher include a pair of vertically disposed bars 23 and 24 and a horizontally disposed bar 25.

The vertical bar 23 is provided at the upper and lower ends with hooked shaped brackets 26 similar to the before mentioned brackets l8 and adapted to slidably engage, respectively, the upper and lower edges of the horizontal frame bar' gitudinally of the front face of the frame bar H,

see Figures 4 and 5, and both the vertical stretching bar 24 and the frame bar I l are provided with respective registering longitudinal slots 25' and 26' through which bolts 21' are passed, and are 7 equipped with wing nuts 28, to permitthe vertical stretching bar 24 being adjusted vertically on the frame bar II.

The horizontally disposed stretching bar 25 is provided at one end with a hook shaped bracket 29, similar to the brackets I8 and 26 adaptedto slidably receive the outer edge portion of the vertical stretching bar 23 and hold the adjacent end of the horizontal stretching bar 25 in abutting engagement with the inner edge of the vertical bar 23 so that the front faces of both'the horizontal stretching bar 25 and the vertical stretching bar 23 are flush. A set screw 30 is engaged through the bracket 29 to permit the horizontal stretching bar 25 to be adjustable vertically on vertical stretching bar 23.

The horizontal stretching bar 25 is provided with a longitudinal slot 3! and through the longitudinal slot, and a vertical slot 32 formed in the left frame bar H a bolt 33 is passed, and is equipped with a wing nut 34 to permit vertical adjusting of the horizontal stretching bar 24 on the left frame bar II. The front faces of the horizontal stretching bar 25 and the left vertical stretching bar 24 are flush, see Figure 5.

Both vertical stretching bars 23 and 24, and the horizontal stretching bar 25 are provided with respective rabbeted edges 35, 36 and 31 to receive conventional pins 38 which have their pointed ends projecting from the front faces of the stretching bars. Likewise the upper frame bar I2 is provided with a rabbeted edge 39 to receive conventional pins 40 which have their pointed ends projecting through the front end of the frame bar. It will be pointed out that the front faces of the upper frame bar l2, both vertical stretching bars 23 and 24, and the horizontal stretching bar 25, are flush with each other thereby permitting the curtain which is being stretched to be secured for the full length of each side and at all corners on the pins. The Z- shaped bracket 20, see Figures 3 and 6 permit the front faces of the upper frame bar I2 and the left vertical stretching bar 24 being disposed flush with each other.

The vertical stretching bar 23 is provided in the outer edge with a notch 4| to receive the bracket 29 and permit dismounting of the horizontal stretching bar 25 when the bolt 33 is removed.

From the above description it is thought that the construction and operation of the invention will be fully understood without further explanation. i

What is claimed is:

1. A curtain stretcher comprising a rectangular outer frame, a horizontal longitudinally slotted adjusting member, a vertical adjusting member, brackets slidably connecting the vertical member flush with the outer frame, a bracket slidably connecting the horizontal member flush with the vertical member, an adjusting bolt adjustably engaged in a slot in the vertical member of the outer frame through the slot in the horizontal member and slidably mounting the horizontal member on the outer frame, a second vertical slotted adjusting member adjustably mounted on the outer frame flush with the horizontal member, bolts slidably securing the second vertical member flush with the outer frame, and'pins on the flush faces of the horizontal and vertical adjusting members and a portion of the outer frame to permit a curtain to be secured for stretching the full length of each side and at all corners.

2. The structure as of claim 1 and in which said brackets are substantially hook shape.

.3. The structure as of claim 1. and in which the first named vertical member and the outer frame are .each provided with at least one notch to receive the brackets and permit dismountingof the adjusting members.
