2 Claims.
The present invention relates to improvements in hose supporting devices, and more particularly to a type of structure adapted to conceal bow-' leggedness.
An object of the invention is the provision of a structure essentially designed to retain trousers in straight non-wrinkling arrangement at the inner sides of the legs, while effectively supporting hose at the same time.
Another object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporter designed to retain the trousers so as to conceal bowed leg curvature.
A further object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporter of the aforesaid character which will effectively and comfortably support short hose.
Still another object of the invention is the provision of a hose supporter of the above character which is simple and inexpensive in construction and efiicient in use.
Other objects and advantages of the invention will become apparent as the description progresses.
In the accompanying drawing forming a part of this specification and in which like reference characters are employed to designate corresponding parts throughout the same- Figure 1 is a perspective view of the improved supporter,
Figure 2 is a front elevational view showing a a pair of supporters fitted on a wearer and the effect produced thereby,
Figure 3 is a fragmentary rear elevational view of the same,
Figure 4 is a, side elevational view of the supporter in position on a wearer, and
Figure 5 is a fragmentary section taken on the line 5-5 of Figure 2.
Referring to the drawing, wherein for the purpose of illustration is shown a preferred embodiment of the invention, It designates the elastic band adapted to encircle the leg of a person, preferably provided with an adjustable slide member II for selectively regulating the length of the band. The band It) is also provided with a detachable hook and stud fastener l2.
Stitched or otherwise secured to the band It, so as to extend lengthwise of the leg, is an elastic hose supporting strap l4 preferably provided with a slide element arranged to enable selective adjustment of the length of the strap. Adjacent the middle of the strap I4 is attached a short elastic extension strap l1 extending to the free end of strap 14 so as to provide a pair of complementary extension sections it and ii. To the free end of each extension section is attached a hose engaging fastener, in the present instance embodying an elongated narrow loop i3 disposed to slidably engage a stud l9 secured to the end portion of a flexible strip 28.
A second elastic strap 22, also preferably designed to enable longitudinal adjustment, is secured to the band In at a. point diametrically opposed to the connection of the strap I4, to provide a band supporting medium. To the free end of the strap 22 is attached a loop and stud fastener similar to the fastener structure employed at the free ends of the extensions of the hose strap M.
In the preferred wearing position, the band It is fitted upon the leg of a wearer just above the knee, as shown at Figures 2, 3 and 4, with the strap 14 disposed at the inner side of the leg and depending from the band. The fasteners on the bottom extensions of the strap It are attached, at spaced positions, to the upper marginal portion of the hose. As clearly illustrated at Figures 1 and 4, this connection will enable turning of the strap M so that the lower portion assumes a position edgewise of the inner side of the leg, that is, in a plane at right angles to the side of the leg.
As readily apparent from the drawing, the connection of the depending straps under elastic tension and the right-angular turning thereof provides a straight linear structure at the inner side of the leg, specifically adaptable when the legs of the wearer are of bowed curvature, as shown. This arrangement provides a straight inner support which will cause the lower leg portions of the trousers, at the inner side of the legs, to hang in a straight line and will prevent wrinkling of the trousers at these positions, as is usually the case with trousers worn by persons with bowed legs. Consequently, the supporter provides a convenient hose supporting device which enhances the appearance of the garment on the person and obviates deformation of the trousers due to bowed leg conditions.
The fastener of the band supporting strap 22 may be attached to the lower concealed portion of the wearers shirt, so as to retain the band in position and to also serve to prevent displacement of the shirt. If desirable, or necessary, the fastener of the strap 22 may be attached to the undergarment.
It is to be understood that the form of my invention herein shown and described is to be taken as a preferred example of the same, and
that various changes as to the shape, size and arrangement of parts may be resorted to without departing from the spirit of the invention or the scope of the suhjoined claims.
Having thus described my invention, I claim:
1. In bow-leggedness concealing means having a horizontal leg band, a vertical fiat strap secured at one end to said band and extending downwardly, a hose-engaging fastener secured to the free end of said strap, a complementary 10 shorter strap secured midway to the vertical strap and extending freely to the lower end of said vertical strap, and a hose-engaging fastener secured to the free end of said shorter strap in back-to-hack position with respect to the other fastener.
2. In an article of manufacture having a leg band and means to support said band from a garment, an elastic strap attached at one end to the band and extending downwardly, a shorter extension strap secured to the elastic strap at the middle thereof, and hose-fastemng means disposed at the free end of each of the strap and extension in back-to-back relation, whereby attachment of said fastening means to a hose in side-by-side relation results in twisting the elastic strap edgewise.
