In the form of the invention disclosed in Figs. 'I and 8, the construction of the leatherbelt buckle is similar to that previously described, diiering merely in the manner of securing the frame sections together as a unit and in the manner of securing the end of the strap I8 to the top face ol the wall portion I I.
The frame sections I!) and Il are secured together as a unit by means of a line of stitches I. The free end of the strap I8 is secured to the top face of the transverse wall portion II by means of a line of stitches I9.
In Figs. 9 and 10 still another means'is shown for attaching together the frame sections Ii) and I4 and for securing the end of the strap I8 to the face of the transverse wall portion II.
In this form of the invention a strip of binding material I5 is engaged about the edge portions of the frame sections I9 and I4 and is secured in position by mucilage material ZI.l Y The binding material I5" comprises Aa strip of leather, fabric, or cellulose Substance. The end of the strap I B is secured in position by means of a plurality of rivets I9.
In the form of the invention disclosed in Fjigs. 11 to 14 a leather buckle similar in construction to that shown in Fig. 7 is provided with a means for stiffering the free end of thelocking tongue I to prevent it from becoming accidentally disengaged frorn the end of the strap I3. This means comprises a slide 22 constructed of metal and substantially of LI-shape. The arms 23 of the slide 22 slidably engage grooves 2t formed in the sides of the top framel section it. The intermediate arm of the slide` 22 is formed to have 4spaced superimposed layers. 25 through which the free end ofthe tongue I is engaged.
In using this form of the invention the free end of the locking tongue is passed through one of the openings in the free end of the strap i8 and the slide 22' is moved forward to the position illustrated in full linesin Fig. ll to shorten the flexing length of the tongue i@ and soprevent the tongue from becoming disengaged from the end of the strap I3. To again free the tongue to permit the tongue to be disengaged from the opening in the end of the strap I8, the slide is moved back to the position illustrated by the dot and dash linesy 22 in Fig. ll.
In Fig. l5 a leather beltrhuckle is illustrated in which the frame sections Ill andY Ill are substantially rectangular in shape. In other respects this form of the invention is similar to that disclosed Figs. l to 6 and like reference numerals are used to designate like partsin each of the several views.
While I have illustrated and described lthe preferred embodiments or my invention, it is vto be understood that I do not limit myself to the precise constructions herein disclosed and the right is reserved to all changes and modifications coming Within the scope of the invention as deu ned in the appended claims. f
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to4 secureby United States Letters Patent is:
l. In a leather belt bucklehaving Ya leather locking tongue for engaging the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section havinga centrally located transverse wall portion fory 'supporting said leather tongue, a leather top' frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions oi' said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a unit.
2. In a leather belt buckle having a leather locking tongue for engaging the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather top frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions of said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a unit, said frame sections being substantially diamond shaped.
3. In a leather belt buckle having a leather locking tongue for engaging the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather top frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions of said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a unit, said frame Sections being rectangular in shape. v
4. In a leather belt buckle having a leather locking tongue for engaging the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather top frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions of said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a unit, comprising mucilage applied between the adjacent faces of said frame sections.

In a leather belt buckle having a leather looking tongue for engaging the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather top 4frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions ofy said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a unit, comprising stitches engaged through the superimposed portions of said frame section.
6. In a leather belt buckle having a leather locking tongue for engagingrthe strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather` top vframe section mounted upon and around the Aedge portions of said base frame section, and means se` curing said frame sections together as a unit, comprising binding material engaged about the superimposed Vedge portions of said frame sections, and mucilage securing said binding strip in position. Ina leather belt buckle having a leather locking tonguefor engaging the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather top frame seotion mounted upon and around the edge portions of said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a unit, comprising binding material engaged about the superimposed edge portionsl of said frame sections, and mucilage securing said binding strip in position, said binding material, comprising a piece of leather, fabric or cellulose material.

In a leather belt buckle having a leather locking tongue for engaging 'the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse Wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a vleather top frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions of said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a u nit, s aid locksecuring the end of said strap in position upon the face of said transverse wall portion.

In a leather vrbelt buckle having a leather locking tongue for., engaging the strap of a belt, a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather top frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions of said base frame section, and means securing said frame sections together as a unit, and means upon one of said frame sections engaging the free end of said locking tongue f or stiiening said tongue to maintain its engaged position with said strap.
11. In a leather belt buckle having a leather locking tongue for engaging the strap of a belt,
a leather base frame section having a centrally located transverse wall portion for supporting said leather tongue, a leather top frame section mounted upon and around the edge portions of said base frame section, andj means securing said frame sections together as'k'a unit, and means upon one of said frame sections engaging the free end of said locking tongue` Afor stiffening said tongue to maintain its engaged position with said strap, comprising a Ushaped slide having its side arms engaging grooves formed in its respective frame section, and an intermediate wall of spaced superimposed layers through which the free end of said locking tongue is projected.
