My inventionrelates to containers and more particularly to containers having fitted contents.

One of the objects of my invention is to provide such a container which is so constructed as to function also as a novel display case for the con tents thereof.

Another object of myinvention is to construct such a container in such a manner as to render it extremely useful as a make-up kit wherein the contents thereofincluding a mirror are presented in a convenient and desirable position when the container is opened. This position can be varied as regards its angular relation to the body of the container and no locking means are required.

Another object of my invention :is to present the top cover of the container when opened at an oblique angle :in relation to the body of the .container :so :as to permit the convenient use of a mirror on the inside surface of the top cover, but, however, not requiring or utilizing any space behind the container itself. It is apparentthat in an ordinary suitcase, the top cover must be swung in relation to the body, to a point wherein it is substantially behind the body of. the suitcase, in order for a mirror on the inside surface of the top cover to be available for convenient use.

Other objects of my invention will be apparent from the following description thereof, it being understood that the above general statements of the objects of my invention are intended to describe and not to limit it in any manner.

Fig. 2 is a section taken along the line 2-2 of Fig. 1, the full lines thereof, however, illustrating the open position of the container and broken lines being used to indicate the action of the cover member.

Fig. 3 is a sectional view, partly broken away, taken along the line 3-3 of Fig. 2, the packaged articles being omitted for sake of clarity.

The container or case comprises, in general, a

1 body which follows known lines of construction except for the improvements hereinafter set forth. The body member B is rectangular and includes an outer lining I 0, and panels II, I2 and I3. Panel II comprises the lower floor of the body member as well as the sides and end thereof, panel I2 is a reinforcing member superimposed on the floor portion thereof and panel I3 is adjacent to and reinforces the end and sides thereof. An inner lining I4 covers the floor of the body member as well as a block or support I5 of wood or similar material retained at the closed end of the body member for a purpose to be hereinafter described. The panels II, I2 and I3 may be of cardboard while the linings In and I4 may be of fabric, leather, or any flexible material.

I-Iingedly connected to the body member B is the end member I6 which includes the panels I? and I8. Thehinge connection of the end member I6 to the body member is effected by the linings Ill and I4 which are common to both these elements. The details hereinabove set forth, save for the block I5, are more or less conventional and are described for the purpose of clarity but are non-essential to the practice of the invention.

The cover C is hingedly related to the end panel of the body member by virtue of the common linings I0 and I4. The cover C comprises the two sections I9 and 20 which are enclosed by the linings I0 and I4 and which meet at the point 2|. 'It will thus be apparent that these cover sections I9 and 20 are hingedly related to each other.

The section 20 is formed with a flap 22 on which a female snap member 23 is disposed for cooperation with the male snap member 24 on the end member I6. I

Secured, as by adhesive, to the inner surface of section 2|], is the tilt panel 25, the lower half of which is free. A lining 26 covers the panel 25 and continues to the underside of the flap 22.

The tilt panel 25 bears a mirror 21 thereon and a variety of packaged cosmetics retained thereon by rubber straps 28. Packaged articles 28a are retained by these straps, the article 29 performing a special function as hereinafter set forth.

My invention is practiced in the following manner:

When it is desired to use the container as a make-up or display kit the flap 22 is released and lifted and the position thus attained is illustrated in full lines in Fig. 2. The end member i6 will, of course, drop to'a position of substantial alignment with the fioor of the body member B. The panel 25 is now in a most convenient and desirable position affording excellent visual access to the mirror 21 and comfortable physical access to the packaged cosmetics.

When the container is to be closed it is grasped by the sides of section 20 and panel 25 and is swung to the closed position as indicated by the arrow in Fig. 2. In order to permit the panel 25 to clear the floor of the body member, the section 20 and panel 25 is slightly lifted when swung, the

A bottle such as 29 may also be disposed in another lower strap 28 to lend better support to the panel 25 by resting similarly on the block i5. It will be observed that no locking means are required to maintain the panel 25 in a desired position and this position may be greatly varied by swinging the section 20 more or less, as desired, the panel 25 resting on the floor of the body member.

I have shown a preferred embodiment of my invention but it is obvious that numerous changes and omissions may be made without. departing from its spirit.

I claim: I

1. A container comprising a body, a cover member havingtwo sections, said sections being swingably connected to each other, and a panel connected to and depending from the underside of one of said sections whereby said panel is enclosed within said container when said container is a closed, and is swung in respect to said body when 3. A container according to claim 2 wherein a front panel is swingably connected to said floor of said body and cooperating closure means on said cover member and said front panel for efiecting a closure of the container.

A container comprising a body having a floor, a swingable cover member secured to said body, a panel secured to said cover member and partly free thereof and depending therefrom, whereby the raising of said cover member causes said depending part of said panel to assume a position of rest wherein its face forms an oblique angle in respect to the floor of said body, said panel having an article secured to the face thereof which is rendered accessible when said cover. member is so raised.

5. A container according to claim 4 wherein packaged articles are releasably secured to said said one of said sections is lifted to open the container, said panel having articles secured thereon which are rendered accessible when said panel is so swung.

A container comprising a body having a floor, a cover member comprising two. swingably connected sections, the rearward of said two sections being swingably connected to the body of said container, and a panel secured to the forward of said two sections and partly depending therefrom, said depending part being free of said rearward section and being adapted to rest by its free end upon said floor of said body when'said cover member'is in the open position, and a mirror secured to said panel so as to afford visual access thereto when said cover member is insaid open position.

A container comprising ,a body having-, a floor, a cover member comprising two swingably connected sections, the rearward of said two sections being swingably connected to said body, and a panel secured to the forward of said two sec-v tions and partly depending therefrom, said depending part being free'of said rearward section and being adapted to rest by its free end upon said floor of said body when said cover member is in the open position, said panel bearing thereon a plurality of articles which are releasably secured thereto and presented in a position for convenient use when the container is in saidopen position, said panel being adapted to assume a position substantially parallel with said floor of said body when said cover member and containerare in the closed position, and a support secured to said body at the closed end thereof, said support cooperating with some of said articles secured to said panel to maintain said articles against displacement when the container i in the closed position.
