Be it known that I, ALICE PASS, of the city, county, and State of New York, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Satchel- Muffs, of which the following is a full, clear, and exact description.

Figure 1 is a perspective view of my improvement. Fig. 2 is a rear elevation of the same extended and partly in section. Fig. 3 is a sectional elevation taken through the line 00 m, Fig. 2.

The object of this invention is to increase the conveniences of muffs by adding a satchel thereto.

The invention consists in making a satchelmuft' with a gathered satchel-opening upon the top and with hand-apertures below, arranged at right angles with the satchel-opening; and also in the combination, with the exterior side of the mufi', of a pocket, as will be hereinafter full y described.

A represents a muff which is made with an opening, D,in its top at right angles with the hand apertures 13, to form a satchel. The satchel D is shirred to receive ribbons or cords E, so that the satchel-openin g can be gathered and closed by drawing upon the ribbons E.

In the rear side of the muff A is formed a pocket, F, to receive a pocket-book. The opening of the pocket F is covered by a flap or lappel, secured in place, when closed, by a button or other convenient fastening.

The front of the mufi can be ornamented by a cord and tassels, bows of ribbon, or in any other desired manner.

In carrying the muff the loops of the ribbons E are passed over the arms before thehands are inserted in the hand-apertures B, so that the muff will not fall should the hands he withdrawn from the said hand-apertures.

Having thus described my invention, I claim as new and desire to secure by Letters Patent-- 1. As an improved article of manufacture, a satchel-muff, A, made, substantially as herein shown and described, with an open gathered top satchel, B, with hand-apertures below, arranged at right angles with the satchelopening, as set forth.

2. The combination, with the muff A, of the top satchel, D, and the gathering-ribbons E, substantially as herein shown and described.
