After FFICE@ ABRAM OWEN, OF TEXANA, TEXAS.
HARNESS-LOOP.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 237,894, dated February 15, 1881.
Application filed September 13, 1880. (N o model.) y
To colt 'whom t may concern:
Be it known that I, ABRAM OWEN, a citizen of the United States, resident at Texana, in the county of Jackson and State of Texas, have invented certain new and useful Iniprovement-s in HarnessLoops; and I do hereby declare the following to he a full, clear, and exact description of the invention, such as will enable others skilled in the art to which it ap'- pertains to make and use the same, reference being had to the accompanying drawings, and to letters or figures of reference marked thereon, which forni a part of this specification.
This invention has relation to harness-loops; and it consists in the features of construction and combination hereinafter fully described, and particularly pointed out in the claim.
Figure l is a view in perspective of a harness-loop embodying the improvements in my invention. Fig. 2 is a vertical longitudinal sectional view of the loop and straps, and Fig. 3 is a side view with the straps removed.
The object aimed at in this invention is to dispense with the leather loops now commonly usedon harness,'bridles, and the like by substituting therefor the metal loop shown in the accompanying drawings, the construction of which I will now proceed to describe, referring to the drawings by letters of reference.
A designates a lower loop, and B an upper loop, and O is a base common to both. The base is extended at D to form a flange, which is provided on its upper face with a button, F. The loop A has a knife-edge, a, which extends slightly Within the loop B, which is the larger ofthe two, in a vertical direction.
The straps G and H are inserted in the coinbined loop in the following` manner: The strap G is perforated and is passed straight. through the loop A, and the perforation is slipped over the button F. The strap H passes through the loop -B above the strap G, and is not fastened. y
This loop may be used 011 bridles, harness, and all other places where the ordinary leather loop has been used, and is much more readily secured in place than by the stitching employed with the leather loop, and is more durable when once affixed. `esides it maybe removed from one portion of the harness to another, and possesses other obvious advantages not possessed by the leather loop.
Having thus fully described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by 'Letters Patent of the United States, is-
As an imliirovement in harness-loops, the herein-described metal loop, consisting of the loops A and B and the liange D, provided with the button F, constructed, combined, and operating substantially as and for the purposes set forth.
In testimony whereof I affix my signature in presence of two witnesses.
ABRAM OWEN.
Witnesses W. H. SIMMONS, W. A. BECKHAM.
