Figure 3 is a transverse sectional view taken on line 88, Figure 2, and is designed to showfurther detail of construction adapted to pass fuel through the fuel control valve.
with anincoming fuelvline not shown .in the k4I; having a bored center." The rack is ofcourse movablel within the extension as will be moreparf ticularly set forth in the description of operar tion.
. As shown in Figures i and 3 the valve`321`is tubular in exterior lconguration (and is formed with" a head 33 which is slottedat 3L3m1acrossthe" face thereof, while the body ofthe valvelis ofref duced section at point 32h adjacent thefheadr 33m and extending forwardly a limited distance.
therefrom., A bushing, 31 having a slotted"headl;`
portion 31a. is threadedly secured inthe tubul'arl extension 40 .andis adapted to hold .the` valve 32- The carburetor ofthis invention includes an upper cylindrical portion I2 anda lower bowllike portion I4 in which fue] and air are thoroughly admixed beforemoving into the manifold of an engine, and it also includes means to throttle the volumeof fuel admitted tov an engine.l
The mixing bowl I4 is formed with a smooth inner surface I6 to facilitate movement of vaporized fuel through the device to the intake manifold. The lower face I8 of the bowlis adapted to be flxedly secured upon an intake manifold in any practical manner, -while the `upper surface of the bowl is adapted to receive the cylinder I2 aboverreferred to.
The lower end of the cylinder'i's formed Awith a i flange 28 which is bored at 30 in a direction across the longitudinal axis ofthe cylinder to receive a valve 32 which is movable longitudinally within the bore 30 to control admission of liquid in the end augment therewith. The bushingis also formed with an opening 32g of, somewhat greater diameter than `the reduced section 32h, whereby/an annular space. 32h is formed between@ the bushing` 31 and thereduced sectionf32li ofthe.L valve 32' thus enabling fluid to pass ,there through.

The body of the valve 32 is bored and threaded at,32c to receive a needle valve38 which is many ually adjustable to minutely regulate the effective area of an orifice. and the volume of liquid fuel which may pass therethrough from the jet 43 positioned in the valve body 32 and extending from the exterior rthereof to a point adjacent the innerendof the needle valve 39.
The `jet or passage-way 4I terminates in a viared opening -45 which is thus shaped to accome modate an increased volume of fuel from the jets or passage-ways 43a, 43h, and 43e which extend from the interior of the valve body to the exterior thereof and which are so located. along the length thereof as to` be normally concealed and covered by the sides of the bore 30 when the valve is in what may be termed engine idlingpofsitiOIL/ The bore 30 and the open. end of the valve '32 terminate in a passage-way 30a in open communication with a circular manifold formed as a groove '30h `in the lower and outer face of the Y tube, 26.
