Patented Apr. 10, 1945 CONTAINER Norberm o. R. Azpiazu, Habana, Cuba Application April 15, 1943, Serial No. 483,204
In Cuba June 17, 1942 1 Claim.
My invention relates to the packaging of shaving creams, tooth paste, cosmetics and the like, and has among its objects and advantages the provision of an improved dispensing container of the noncollapsible type.
In the accompanying drawing:
Figure 1 is a face view of the container.
Figure 2 is a longitudinal sectional View.
Figure 3 is a sectional view along the line .3--3
Figure 4 is a face view of a turning knob.
Figure 5 is a sectional View, of a group of coacti'ng parts, and
Figure 6 is a perspective view of a plug placing and removing key.
In the embodiment of the invention selected for. illustration, the container I0 comprises a glass or plastic tubular Ibody I2 having an eX- truding neck I4 externally threaded for threaded connection with a closure cap I6. The contents of the container are extruded through the medium of a glass or plastic piston I8, the latter being threadedly connected with a screw 2B positioned concentrically with the body I2.
In the end of the body I2 opposite the neck I4 is threadedly inserted a plug 22 constituting a bottom for the body. This plug is provided with a bore 24 inits inner face for reception of a iiange 25 for-med as an integral part with the screw 20. This flange is provided with an annular and tapered face 28 engaging the correspondingly shaped bottom face 30 of the bore 24. The screw 2n is extended beyond the ange 26 to serve as a l mount fora turning knob 32.
The screw en-d 34 extends loosely through the small bore 3B in the plug 22, and the end 34 is threaded tightly in the bore 38 in the knob 32 as far as it will go, with the knob having face engagement with the end of the body I2 to restrain the screw from relative axial movement and to hold the face 28' in sealingengagement with the face 30. However, the screw 20 may easily rotate through the medium of the knob 3.2 for imparting axial movement to the piston I8, as when extrudin-g -material through the neck I4.
In view of the fact that the plug l22 lits flush with the body I2, this body is provided with two recesses 40 for the reception lof the pins i2 of a key M. These pins are insertable through bores 'A 4B in the knob'32 so `that access may be had to the plug 22 notwithstanding the fact that the knob overlies the plug. Thus the plug 22 may be easily removed for replenishing purposes.
Without further elaboration, the foregoing will so fully explain my invention, that others may,
by applying current knowledge, readily adapt the same for use under various conditions of service.
lI claim:
A dispensing device of the character described comprising a tubular body having an extruding opening at one end and interiorly screw threaded at its opposite end, a screw mounted axially in said body, an annular tapered flange formed on the screw adjacent one end, an exteriorly threaded plug fitted in the threaded end of the body, saidA plu-g having an axial bore therethrough loosely receiving thescrew therethrough and an enlarged tapered bore in the inner end in which the tapered flange is rotatably seated, a knob mounted against thev outer end of the body and .plug having a threaded axial bore opening through the inner end and terminating short of the outer end, the bore in the knob threadedly engaging an end portion of the screw, and a piston fitted for axial sliding movement in the body having an axial through b'ore threadedly engaging the screw, `the knob being provided with a pair of through bfores parallel with and spaced from the axial bore and the plug being provided with bores opening through the outer end adapted to align with the pair of bores in the knob for the insertion of a key to position the plug in the body.
