The supporting structure for the crusher comprises a base B from which side walls I0 and II extend upwardly. The walls I0 and II support bearing structures I2 and I3 for the shaft I4, and similar bearings I5 and I6 on the walls journal the shaft I'I. Each shaft, between the bearings, has the eccentric portion I8, these eccentric portions of the shafts receiving the hubs I9 of the jaw frames J1 and J2, a ball bearing 20 being inserted between the eccentric portion of each shaft and the associated jaw frame hub.
The jaw frames J1 and J2 extend downwardly between the side walls I0 and II and each frame supports the crusher plate 2I whose outer face is longitudinally fluted or corrugated, as shown on Figure 1. Each crusher plate is held between upper and lower shoulders 22 and 23 on the corresponding jaw frame, and the plates as well as 55 thefjaw frames, are exactly alike and interchangeablfef'j 1 j' g 'j' y' f yEach -jaw frame has a tension .rod 24 anchored thereto atits innerend, as by a bo1t25,the upper wall portions 26 of the base atgopposite ends thereof supporting brackets v2`I through which the respective ltension.rods extend, the rods at their outer ends being threaded to;receiveadjusting nuts-or handwheels 28. shafts I4 and I'I will be rotated in oppositedirec tions. A housing 56 surrounds thesprocket wheels and the chain belt to afford protection therefor. Adjusting means 51 are provided for the supports 49 so that the housing 50 with the shaft 5I may be adjusted for proper tensioning of the chainlbelt. Each shaft Ikand. II. mounts at each end thereof a flywheel 58, theseflywheels beingrall of the same diameter and weight-and equally spaced from the longitudinal center line of! thecrusher. l Y

The chain belt will also drivethe sli-aftV 51|-, and'from thisshaft power may bef taken t'o drive auxiliary equipment such as conveyor mechanism (not shown) for removing the Crusher material discharged from the Crusher. It-is evidentl that, instead. of drivingv the shafts I4l'and I'I by the-pulleys 59, a driving source could' be connected to the shaft 5I' for driving the chain beltand thereby the shafts.
Owing to the eccentric connectionl of thejaw members J1 and Jzwith the shafts I4and'I'I, the jawT members will' be swung towardf andi away fromeachother on theV fulcrums provided by the toggle plates 34 to apply crushing action on the material fed between theA jaw plates. By proper setting or timing of the eccentric connectionl with the shafts, the jaw frames may also be given any desired longitudinal movement during swinging movement thereof for further crushing exertion of the jaw plates on the' material. Theuse of a single drivechain for the Crusher shafts materiallysimpliesand reduces the cost ofmanufacturefof the crusher-and enables timing setting of the shafts to be readily and quickly accomplished. When it is desired to make such timing adjustment, the chain belt may be readily opened, by withdrawing one of its link pins, and the belt unmeshed from one of the driving sprockets so that the corresponding shaft may be rotated relative to the other shaft fonthedesired timing, the chainbeing then remeshed. andv closed.
I have thus produced an efcient crusher in which two identical crusher halves are synchronously driven in proper timing relation by a single chain belt having extended meshing engagement with the respective sprocket wheels of the two supporting shafts, the various cooperating parts being interchangeable and readily accessible for adjustment or repairs,-
Although I have shown a practical embodiment of the various features of my invention I do not desire to be limited to the exact construction, arrangement and operation shown'y and described', as changes and modifications are possible which'would still come within thescope of my invention.
I claim as follows:
A rock crusher comprisinga supporting fram a pair of shafts journaled on said. frame, twin crushing structures at opposite sides of .said frame below the respective shafts, each structure comprisinga jaw member having an eccentric Sconnection at its upper endwith'the respective shaft, said jaw members beingf directly oppos'ed'to each other, a toggle plate for each jaw memberfulcrumed at its outer end on said supporting frame and at-its inner end on the lower end of the'jaw member, said" toggle platesy diverging upwardly at the same angle from their fulcruml engagementl with the jaw members, tensioning means above said toggleplates holding said jaw' members outwardly against said toggle plates,.a balancewheel on each end of each of said shafts, opposed sprocket wheels on said shafts, a drive chain meshing said sprocket wheels for rotation ofsaid shafts in opposite direction, and a driving shaft and a sprocket wheelf'thereon meshingsaid drive chain for driving thereof, the'arrangement of all'the operating parts assembled at opposite sides of the vertical center line of the Crusher being exactly alike whereby the crusher is per-- fectly balanced and with the chain drivecan be operated'l safely at very high speeds with correspondingly large capacity.
