NTTED STATES PATENT OFFICE.
GEORGE F. DOYLE, OF BOSTON, MASSACHUSETTS.
COMBINED CRADLE AND CARRIAGE.
SPECIFICATION forming part of Letters Patent No. 234,547, dated November 16, 1880.
Application filed June 15, 1880. (ModeL) To all whom it may concern:
Be it known that I, GEORGE FRANKLIN DOYLE, of Boston, in the county of Suifolk and State of Massachusetts, have invented a new and useful Improvement in Combined Cradle and Carriage, of which the following is a specification.
The invention consists in combining with the rockers of a cradle and the axles of a carriage dowel-pins, sockets, spring-hasps, and pin, the axles being concaved to receive the rockers, so that the rockers and axles may be readily attached and detached, as hereinafter described.
In the accompanying drawings, Figure l is an end View, partlyin sect-ion. Fig. 2 is a vertical section longitudinally of the body of the cradle and transversely of the rockers and axle-trees. Fig. 3 is a top view.
Similar letters of reference indicate corresponding parts.
A represents the body of the cradle, which may be of any suitable description. It is provided with rockers B, attached to it by means of screws, nails, or bolts, or in any other suitable manner.
0 0 represent the axle-trees of a carriage, connected with each other by a reach, D. The upper surface ofeaeh axle-tree is concave, and
corresponds with the curve of the rocker B. It is also provided with dowel-pins e, for engagement with sockets f in the bottom of the rocker.
When used as a carriage the rockers rest on the concave surfaces of the axle-trees, with the pins 0 in the sockets f, and they are secured in place by spring-hasps H, each of which has its lower end attached to the axle-tree, and its upper portion is provided with a hole, which engages with a pin, 5, projecting from the rocker.
By disengaging the spring-hasps H from the pins t it is adapted to be used as a cradle; or, if preferred, it can be lifted off the axle-tree and placed upon the floor or ground.
Having thus described my invention, what I claim as new, and desire to secure by Letters Patent, is
The combination, with the rockers of a cradle and the axles of a carriage, of the dowelpins 0, sockets f, spring-hasps H,.and pin *6, the axles being concaved to receive the rockers, substantially as and for the purpose specified.
GEO. FRANKLIN DOYLE.
