1 Claim.
This invention relates to a soap and water mixer, and has for the primary object the provision of a device of this character which may be readily connected into a flow of water, whereby the water may contact soap and become soapy so that the water leaving the device may be utilized for the washing and cleaning of various articles, automobiles and the like or may be employed for taking baths.
Another object of this invention is the provision of a device of the above stated character which will conserve soap and still permit the water to be thoroughly mixed with sufficient soap to assure of efficient results by the use of this device and may be easily opened to permit soap to be renewed in the device when the need occurs.
With these and other objects in view, the invention consists in certain novel features of construction, combination and arrangement of parts to be hereinafter more fully described and claimed.
For a complete understanding of my invention, reference is to be had to the following description and accompanying drawings, in which Figure 1 is a side elevation illustrating a soap and water mixer constructed in accordance with my invention.
Figure 2 is a bottom plan view illustrating the device.
Figure 3 is a vertical sectional view illustrating the device.
Figure 4 is a transverse sectional view taken on the line 4-4 of Figure 1.
Referring in detail to the-drawings, the numeral 5 indicates a box-like construction composed of sections 6 and 'l. The sections 6 and I are hinged together, as shown at 8, and the section "I is equipped with a spring clamp 9 to engage with the section 6 to retain the section I in tight engagement with the section 6. Where the sections 6 and 1 meet with each other a suitable gasket I0 is employed to provide an effective seal between the sections to prevent leak age.
The section 5 includes a horizontally arranged portion A defining a water chamber and a depending portion B also defining a water chamber in communication with the horizontally arranged water chamber by a port I I provided in a partition l2 separating the chambers. The lower end of the depending portion B has a series of discharge openings l3. The bottom wall of the horizontal portion of the section B is provided with a series of perforations M to permit water to escape into a compartment l5 formed within the section I. The compartment is fully open at its upper end and when the section I is brought into engagement with the section 6 it abuts the 1 perforated bottom Wall of the horizontal portion of the section 6 to receive water. A cake ct scan or the like is placed within the compartment The walls of the section "I exteriorly of the compartment are spaced therefrom to form water chamber l6 leading into a depending tion "similar to the depending portion B, how ever, arranged at an opposite end of the box" like construction from the depending portion 18. The depending portion H has a group of dis charge openings [8.
The upstanding walls of the compartment i5 are provided with ports I! to allow water from the compartment to pass into the water chamber l6 of the section I after contacting the soap. The bottom wall of the compartment l5 also has drain openings 20 so that water may drain from the compartment after use of the device so that the soap will not become unduly soft by resting in water during non-use of the device.
It will be seen that when the section I is permitted to lower on the hinge 8 the compartment l5 becomes fully open so that soap may be read ily placed therein. I
The top wall of the section 6 has integral therewith a fitting 2| of a. character which will permit said fitting to be readily applied to a faucet so that water from the faucet may be directed first into the section 5 where certain of said water passes into the depending portion B and escapes therefrom in a clear condition while a portion of the water enters the compartment i5 and contacts the soap and becomes soapy and passes into the water chamber ii of the section I and escapes therefrom by the depending por tion ll. It will be seen that this device can be successfully employed for washing dishes or the like and also for rinsing the dishes after washing them with the soapy water due to the clear water discharging from the depending portion 13 of the section 6.
The fitting 2! is equipped with a suitable clamp of adjustable character for detachably securing the fitting onto the faucet to prevent the displacement of the device from the faucet due to water pressure.
It is to be understood that the water faucet may be of the type in which a mixture of hot and cold water may be delivered into the present invention.
It is believed that the foregoing description, when taken in connection with the drawings, will fully set forth the construction and advantages of this invention to those skilled in the art To which such a device relates, so that further tietailed description will not be required.
Having thus described the invention, what I claim is:
In a soap and water mixer, a casing including a. substantially L-shaped section and a suhstan tially rectangular shaped section hinged to one portion of the substantially L-shaped section 0 whereby the latter-named section may act as a closure for the substantially rectangular shaped
